So I screwed up and did a complete system reformat. However prior to this I transferred all the data off my SD card to my pc. Is there a way I can put it all back on the card and retrieve my saved data for a specific game?
@Hresko92 Well, you said you transferred all the data to your PC. All you have to do is copy it back to the SD card and then put that back in the 3DS. It'll read it just fine. I've done this myself, so I know it works.
'The console wars are like boobs: Sony and Microsoft fight over which ones look the nicest and Nintendo's are the most fun to play with.'
im sure it does, but with old pokemon blue, i dont think it works like that, i tried backing up the save data a little while ago and its not letting me
@Hresko92 Hm... that's Virtual Console, then I assume? Still, the data should be on the SD card regardless, so whatever you copied to your PC, you should also be able to copy back to the card.
What you can try, is right click the folder(s) or individual files on your PC, select properties and then look if the option "read-only" is checked. If it is, uncheck it and try to copy or move the files to the SD card again.
And if there's nothing to see at all, which I can't imagine if you yourself have copied it to PC, then you should simply make the folder or folders visible again, by going into the tools option on Windows and making hidden folders visible: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/14201/windows-show-h...
Be sure to reset that setting back to hiding the folders again, after you're done.
But with Virtual Console, the data could also be on the 3DS's internal memory, so in that case, there would indeed be nothing to see, let alone to copy. I honestly wouldn't be able to tell.
One final thing you could always do, if all else fails, is call or e-mail Nintendo's support desk, and see what they advise you to do.
