The PS3 has a ton of great games, most of which are very cheap nowadays, and there's a few years left in its life. I totally suggest it.

Lunapplebloom

If your wanting to save money for a lot of games, I would personally go with the PS3. Though there is the case that the system should have a price drop come when the PS4 is released as @Rayword45 stated. 3DS would be more for if you like the idea of a 3D display, and for more current games, since it should continue to have strong support for the rest of it's lifetime. The 3DS also has the ability to be anywhere also, though the battery doesn't last as long as a DS, but long enough in my experience.

In the end though, it's really up to you with what you choose. I'm sure you have more than enough opinions from others now.

Do you understand how the stuff works? Again, complete immaturity. Wii U is better, get over it, and wait for PS4. They improve in different increments. The Gamepad already wins and will still be relevant for along time vs. unused 6 axis and tacked on things to compete with last gen Wii.

@Ralizah
I would think Wii U has a more immediate future than PS3, since it will actually be a console for next gen. PS3 has a more immediate past if anything.
I already have a next gen console, which just so happens to be the only one. I plan on getting an Xbox, too, but that's further off than even the PS4.

Again, higher education should be your goal my friend. Not posting garbage on the internet. The original didn't ask for your ignorant, stupid opinion on why you believe the Wii U is better than the PS4.

It's strange. After I tore into your faulty logic the other day, I decided that I would the baby have his bottle and move on. But if you'd like to dance in every topic, I'm game.

I have a PS3, and that thing is a bluray and media center for me only, especially since I got a Wii U for gaming.
I literally powered on my PS3 just today to try the Injustice demo and I can tell that thing runs slower than Wii U even with a console life worth of updates, plus it's still getting updates for no apparent reason.

So stability updates are nothing? I guess the stability updates from Nintendo are worthless too. Oh wait...

You can tell it upconverts everything to 1080p and the colors are more dull compared to Wii U IMO.If anything, I'd say get a Wii U over a PS3 if your going console.

Again with the "in my opinion" crap. You refuse to back it up. Putting that statement at the end of a sentence does not exempt you from making up lies. And yeah, it upconverts to 1080p. Because that's what it was designed to do. If you have the proper hardware. If you opt to run through a standard definition set, the PS3 doesn't magically make the games run in 1080P. Research. Please do it. I'm begging you.

Why would it be a point of pride to say Wii U is better? The exact same thing I am debating with you is the exact same argument, except it's from PS3 to Wii U, vs. Wii U to PS4.

Why is it a point of pride to you? Are you that concerned that Nintendo might not be behind the console as you believe? Do you have such little faith in Nintendo that the second (and I mean second) someone asks about something other than the Wii U, you fly into an irresponsible rage over it? It sounds like you're really insecure about supporting Nintendo.

Gaikai may not even stream PS3 and PS3 hasn't supported BC for more 2 years more than Wii.

So people who are interested in a PS4, which I'm not as I've stated in other threads, should have absolutely no faith in what Sony promised, yet you expect, nay demand, people believe the Wii U is going to be great because Nintendo promised it would?

By the way, what's your PSN name? Mine is terribledeli.

Dude, go play Atari, that's when you could understand things apparently.
I'm already set for next gen with Wii U. You can say your opinion just as much for PS3, but PS3 is going to be obsolete twice as fast for the same amount of money as a Wii U. The difference is, is that I don't have to insult other users to TRY and get a point across.
PS3 does what it was designed to do, which just so happens to be last gen.
The point about Gaikai, is that is just as much doubful as Wii U doing well.
I don't really think I should give you my PSN ID, because I'm such a baby and don't want to deal with BS on a gaming console that I hardly play anymore.

I just don't like PS, so I use it as a bluray player, which it can do right for me.

TO THE ORIGINAL OP: 3DS will count as next gen, so that's what I would go with, besides it actually being a better handheld than PS Vita which is also Sony's console.

Really? Because I'm pretty sure you've told others that if they don't agree with your perverted logic that they don't just understand. And you don't get any points across. Because they are made up.

PS3 does what it was designed to do, which just so happens to be last gen.The point about Gaikai, is that is just as much doubful as Wii U doing well.

So the PS3 is doing what its designed to do, which is play games...yet the Wii U is...curing disease while I'm playing LEGO City? And yes, that was the point I was trying to make about your inappropriate claims. You're telling people that Gaikai isn't a service that will run on the PS4, despite evidence to the contrary. But when someone challenges Nintendo's decisions regarding software (for example), you tell them things will get better. Do you understand, logically, it's the same thing?

I don't really think I should give you my PSN ID, because I'm such a baby and don't want to deal with BS on a gaming console that I hardly play anymore.

Or was never in your possession to begin with.

I just don't like PS, so I use it as a bluray player, which it can do right for me.

Then that's all you have to say. "I don't like the PS3" and walk away like other posters have done in this thread. Running your mouth about things you've sorta read on Wikipedia gives you no credibility.

TO THE ORIGINAL OP: 3DS will count as next gen, so that's what I would go with, besides it actually being a better handheld than PS Vita which is also Sony's console.

Wow. I'm literally shocked. I am so proud of you, at this moment. You issued an opinion and backed it up with a fact. Of course, you added a slight dig at Sony at the end. But hey, every journey begins with one step.

I have both consoles and a vita, I totally love playing PSone games on the screen of my vita using remote play (having them on the PS3's hardrive is much better than paying for an expensive memory card).

Though my 3DS is still my console of choice most of the time.

The only thing that matters is the games though, look online and find out which console has the games that interest you the most.

Sounds like the PS3 would be the better choice for now, as it already has a huge library of games, so you could spend the next 3-4 years playing AAA stuff. The 3DS is great too, but it needs time to build up that library. Personally, I feel it it only has 3 great games so far, Super Mario 3D Land, Fire Emblem: Awakening and Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon. There are other good games, but those are the great ones for me.

I'm going to be picking up a PS3 after the PS4 comes out too. It's definitely going to drop in price once the sales begin to dry up as people move onto the next gen consoles.

So you don't have a PSN name, then? Mine is usually on with Netflix, so I'll see the notification when you choose to send me then.

If they were facts, then yes. My statement would make no sense.

But they are not facts. And you are not making technological comparisons. You make very blanket statements, like the colors being muted on a game you can't verify on one console. If you said "I'm borrowing my friend's copy of InJustice on the PS3 and compared to my Wii U version, it just looks muted." That would be a comparison. A flimsy one, but a comparison. But even looking at the console specs, it doesn't make a difference. NetherRealm has been working with PS3 kits a lot longer than Wii U's kit so there's going to be things the Wii U is going to struggle with. It's just the nature of the beast. It's not a dig at Nintendo (some may choose to use it as such, but it's not).

My advice? Just let it go man and don't take it so personal. You seem happy enough with your Wii U purchase. Who cares if someone thinks the PS3 blows it out of the water? Just enjoy playing the games you've got.

I'm off for the night. I'll be checking for that invite.

That's like saying they'll be a 4DS soon, so get one in a couple of years.

Get a PS3. There is a massive back-catalogue of great games available. Plus there are heaps of great games scheduled to come out.

Not really. A new PS will be coming out sooner than a new DS. Ya, there's more games, but I think it would be wiser to get a MORE current system that will be supported longer. There's a for sure chance to get Smash Bros. which will be a console game, Monster Hunter 3, Pokemon, etc.

The thing to keep in mind too is that with the PS4 coming out this fall (supposedly) stores will be clearing out their overstock of PS3 games so you will probably find good deals on those.

all right, all right, we already know what you've suggested. please, let's allow others to give their honest suggestions as well. it's all opinions here at the moment, and I'm sure the OP would be happy to have as many as they can get in order to make their decision as opposed to mostly one or two users bickering down the line. :3

If you want Sony games, get a PS3. If you want (portable) Nintendo games, get a 3DS. Simple as that.

^ this. there are lists of available (and upcoming) games available on the internet. figure out which system has the games you want to play — or will have the games you want to play — and go for it. you honestly can't go wrong, there's something for everyone on both consoles :3

3DS, it's next-gen.

My SD Card with the game on it is just as physical as your cartridge with the game on it.
