Apart from Steel Diver (and maybe one or two others), all of the 3DS games Nintendo have announced have been sequels/games from existing franchises. Do you think Nintendo should start some more franchises for the 3DS, or keep making Mario/Zelda/Metroid games, etc. Not saying I think they should stop making those games altogether, but they can't rely on them forever, right?

Nintendo knows what they are doing, Nintendo is doing a very great job creating games and making sequels. I also Enjoy all the great software Nintendo brings us, perhaps in the future Nintendo will bring us all new never before games to the Wii, DS Lite, DSi and the all new 3DS. Also Star Wars Battle Front has never been on the DS till recently so thats a big change for Nintendo fans which will make everyone happy . Also Kid Icarus is new to a lot of fans who were not around in 1991, as for me, I have never heard of him until I saw Kid Icarus in Super Smash Bros Brawl and I thought he was a new character and so did my friends. Pilot Wings is new from Nintendo and fans are excited. Just Watch the E3 on youtube see how the fans cheer. Nintendo is the King of gaming and creating AMAZING SYSTEMS, so no one has to worry if sequels will last. I also having a feeling next year Nintendo will bring all new games to the 3DS and Wii.

In classic Nintendo fashion, I think we'll see a lot of familiar faces in the initial 3DS lineup. It's a smart move, it ensures interest and buyers. But Nintendo doesn't pump out Metroid or Zelda or Mario games; after the first wave of classic franchises, the 3rd parties will get a nice long turn to take a crack at getting your attention and money.
i think that the 3DS is pumped and primed for brand new series that utilize 3D. if nintendo DOESNT make a new series that uses 3D, then ill be really surprised

I think Nintendo will do the same thing they did with the ds, they will continue to make new installments of old series and then make a separate bunch of games that appeal to those people who want a game that focuses on the 3d aspects of the system( kind of like clubhouse games, which utilized the touch screen exclusively to play the games)

Which system was PilotWings on? I don't remember that game.

The fans want Mario, Zelda and Metroid. And thats what they get.
But how about more games from lesser known franchises from the past? A new Balloon Fight game? A new Clu Clu Land? Or how about something much more obscure - a sequel to Heli Fire, Space Demon or Sky Skipper?
Edgey, Gumshoe, Godot, Sissel, Larry, then Mia, Franziska, Maggie, Kay and Lynne.
I'm throwing my money at the screen but nothing happens!
I still think there should be more new games than Mario, Zelda and Metroid games. I want something new and exciting, than can offer what the other Nintendo franchises can't.

I don't really think that Nintendo needs new franchises. The ball is rolling smoothly and I'm content with way Nintendo heads of command are turning the keys at the Big N.
How in Jabo Italy can any sane mind even attempt to express discontent in the light of the impressive software line- up that Nintendo unveiled at E3 this past summer?
I'm sure Nintendo will release a special set of games to specificly focus on the third dimensional capabilities of the 3DS and for more on that you might want to google "3DS PLAY trademarked".
Fans aren't really in disatisfaction. In fact I think the party is just getting started. Simply look at the grand array of titles that fans had been waiting and praying for.
Kid Icarus and Donkey Kong Country were the most wanted titles of the last 20 or less years for those of us were suckled and weaned on the classics in our long gone nostalgic childhoods.
To be honest, I am happy with the nostalgia that E3 2010 envoked and don't really care about new IP's. Still for those of you who are hungry for new bread and butter alas, for there is a light at the end of the tunnel for you. Iwata and our beloved Shigeru Miamoto will unveil a new personality who dwells in water sometime next year, perhaps at E3. I think that it could be a Mermaid since it's a water character. That would be so nice to go from Pit to a Mermaid.
Also, for those in darkness regarding PilotWings, it was on the Nintendo 64 back in the golden days.

Nintendo has already many great franchises of course. But I would love to see a totally new franchise made by Nintendo. It's about time since they focused too much on their existing major franchises in the past years. I think the last videogaming franchise established by Nintendo was Pikmin on the Gamecube (excluding casual games). So I expect to see some brand new Nintendo characters (in 3D of course) next year.
