Despite the game's simplicity, this is the kind of game that you can play for hours on end - can't explain it. Maybe it's just the idea of clearing screens of enemies that give you that endorphin rush - maybe it's the blood, but I played this game for HOURS today.

I also like how some of the different weapons appear differently when you equip them on your character. Unfortunately, armour stays the same and doesn't change your appearance. Oh well, maybe in the sequel if there ever is one. At this point, I think I'd lean more to a 7/10 now.

I also downloaded Gotta Protectors which for sure is the better game (better gameplay, more depth), but I prefer the 16-bit style graphics (and the blood) of Sadame over Gotta Protectors' simpler 8-bit graphic style.

@Hey-Cha-La It definitely grabs you for some reason and I didn't even know why either. I ended up near 70 hours after I was done and it was mostly due to the loot and gems that I wanted. It's highly repetitive yet that didn't stop me.

I know, right?! There so many other bigger, more meaningful titles out there, like Zero Time Dilemma, etc. but I'd rather just play this no-brainer game! I think it is the nifty graphics and art direction plus the satisfaction (and easy & instant gratification) you get from clearing screens that make the game so enjoyable to me. Bosses are getting demolished in seconds in this game with zero strategy other than running up to them and spamming X, so yeah, clearly this isn't a very deep experience, lol! It's like it belongs in the yummy junk food / guilty pleasure category of videogames.

Regarding gems, so far I have only found 'square' shaped gems - at what point do you get other gems? At this time, I'm also just gearing up with 'blue stats' weapons and not really bothering.

@Hey-Cha-La You should start getting Pentagon shaped gems after about 2 run throughs. After about 3 to 4 you will see ruby shaped ones. The best are the circle ones and I didn't start seeing those for about 50 hours. They're the most valuable items in the game. Early on the rare, epic, and legend gear are good but after a while they don't come close to what the common equipment can do with the right gems. If you can buy some no matter how expensive do it. The more skills the better attached to them.

It does start getting a bit harder on the 3rd run. Eventually it gets so hard that even another player can't really do much. They often die in the first couple of minutes.

The game is on sale so I'll give it a try. The ninja's design looks awesome, and awesome ninjas are my weakness.
