They pretty much said that as an iOS "endless runner" port, it's nothing spectacular by eShop standards (that's what I got from it, anyhow), but it's still a fun pick-up-and-play game, and the circle pad adds a better way to play.
I was personally never interested in the game, but are you going to be picking it up tomorrow?
EDIT - from what I got on the "Pop Island 3D" thread, this game & that one are completely different titles (that thread was actually due to a much earlier announcement, unrelated to Rising Board 3D).
Currently playing: Rhythm Heaven, Minecraft (XBLA), Pokemon B/W 2, Halo 4, The Denpa Men: They Came By Wave, Fallblox, Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door (GCN)
Will be playing soon: Paper Mario: Sticker Star, Cave Story +, Wii U: NSMBU, Nintendo Land, (And lots more!)
So far I have no idea what I'm doing, so I'm going to say it's like Excite Bike except you can't see where you're going (hard to see and control where you're at on the track instead of mistakenly crashing up or down into a hill.) But overall I'm finding it relaxing and fun, ignoring the sun coins and focusing on building up trick multiplier quickly.
Got the game for the hell of it, its not bad but its not the best either. It has its fun with the stunts you can do and how its like pop island (because it pretty much is pop island), but has its bad times like when you find either star points or a power up and you can't turn back to get it (you're always going right and left is you're back) and sometimes (probaubly most time) you come across land that was abit unexpected.
The game is pretty much about you getting all the boards and upgrades but if you want to beat you're highscore then the game gives you replay value. The game to me feels like some online flash game where you need to to get the best vehicle and max its power to be able to get the best score you can get.I recommend it abit, but only if you have the money, its better then I must run and is about the same as bird mania (my opinion) upgrades=achievements, but speedx is better.
At first I wasn't used to the controls at all, so the gameplay seemed a lot different than for example Paper Plane / Canabalt or AIRace / Speed X. It's starting to feel more like a normal tunnel racer as I get used to it. I don't think the d-pad is usable, probably because of the tricks where you rotate the circle pad.
My high score is at 398k, and I still don't know what I'm doing yet, so wondering if anyone will break the 6-digit limit and get a million
Tip: In the special giant wave level, make sure you're building up speed by holding A in mid-air to crash down a wave. There's a lot of sun coins in the sky and it makes the level a lot more fun. The Youtube trailer (at 1:12+) is a good example.
It's interesting that every second there's several choices to make: dodge obstacles obviously, search for transform powerups, collect sun points, jumping - whether to use A to stabilize/slow yourself down, or to land a perfect trick; and whether you want to do a 720+ to get more points/sun points, or if not to risk that so that you're ready to safely maneuver more easily; and deciding if it's too risky to immediately jump after landing a compulsory trick (to collect the resulting sun points).
I stay prepared for two consecutive mountains, so not having problems with randomness (now that I'm somewhat used to the track). I do most of the compulsory tricks until I get to 3:00-3:30 where it goes too fast for me to get credit for most of them. Was worth it for me, but I pretty much always like these kind of games.
I loved it so much and was addicted. No complaints, this game is fun and addictive and is way better than a 6, I give it a 10. And whoever said this game was like Excitebike, I disagree.
Games I'm playing currently: Legend of Zelda: A Link Betweeen Worlds, Tearaway
Games I'm excited for: Super Mario 3D World, Super Smash Bros. 4, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, Mario Kart 8

I'm loving this one. I would def rate it a 7 or 8 out of 10. It is hard, but if you watch where you're going you can score pretty big I know the sequences are random, but if you kept on going forever that would just drive me batty. You've got to have a stopping point!

I agree with the previous two posters! I love this game! I think the randomness is totally fine. I've never died because of something "unavoidable". Yes there are parts that are hard where there's very little water, but I haven't experienced this "impossible" business everyone keeps complaining about. Bomb Monkey all over again!
