I was wondering if anyone knew if it was possible to buy a prepaid E-shop card, get the code, and then give the code to a friend. It seems so in theory, but I'm just looking for confirmation. Also, does anyone know if it'd be possible to, say, buy one in NA and give the code to a person in Canada? i.e. there isn't some sort of weird regional restriction on the codes.
I see, thank you for your response. So if they were in Canada would they be able to switch their region, use up the currency, and then switch it back to Canada with games in hand?
Some sources online indicate that is the case, but some also say there was a recent update that might prevent region swapping for the system (regarding linking the NNID or something). So could you confirm that the question in the paragraph above is possible?
Eshop cards work like gift cards. As long as they are purchased, the code will work for anyone in that region.
With regards to regions, the world is divided into several regions. The Americas are the "NSTC" region (i.e. US and Canada and Latin America) and Europe and Australia are the "PAL" region. Gift cards will only work for 3DSes of the same region.
