Topic: Pyramid Impressions

So Europe finally has a second eShop original and it's Pyramids from EnjoyGaming. The game is something of a clone of Solomon's Key for the C64 and NES. Anyway here's my impressions so far:

The game is really simple but the controls take a minute or two to get used to, especially in regards to which square you're targeting. Graphically, the game has a simple cutout aesthetic with simplistic 3D models and a nice, but not needed, 3D effect. There's a bit of trial and error involved in the game if you want to get 3 stars for every level and you have to be very quick. I'm near the end of the second set of stages so the game seems like it will take a good couple of hours.I think the package is definitely worth the asking price but it's not extraordinary.

So did anyone else pick this one up? What do you think about the game?

Totally worth the asking price, should be an instant buy. I made it through the first set, but only 1,2,6 and 9 with 3 stars. It doesn't have the instant appeal of Angry Birds, but I might get really into this. Anyone know how to get the two treasures above the flames on level 5 ?

Figured it out, it was a 'stand on a ledge' thing on the right treasure. Now on to beat the time for 3 stars

Yeah, I got stuck there for a while as well. Some of the times are really strict as well.

Yup, I've abandoned the quest for all 3 stars at the moment and regard those more as the novice, normal and expert levels Some nice level design in this game, I'm currently struggling with 2-3 and 2-4 at the moment

Downloaded it today and it's really good... it's probably not the greatest 3DSWare game in the world but it's pretty good and at £3.60 it's well worth it. Along with being able to scan QR codes to download new levels is pretty handy, but I would've found it simpler with SpotPass or something. And if they added in the ability to create your own and share them via StreetPass and or SpotPass I think this game would've been just pure awesomesauce!

But as it is, it's a very good game and some of the levels are flippin' hard! I'm playing through the 3rd world or levels or whatever and they are stinking hard but the level design really shines through, very well built indeed.

Wow, I think my frustration with this game peaked at level 3-4 ... finally got it ! but the experience reminded me more of Manic Miner style hardness.

Yeah the game's difficulty has skyrocketed and it's actually getting rage-inducing at times. I hate the rocks and the weird bat things.

I was playing 3-5 or 6, can't remember which, I just wanted to throw my 3DS in ager, wow that was annoying... but yet, it's still so much fun. Really awesome game.

Is it the one with the row of flames at the top? If so it was 3-5 and it's nearly impossible to 3-star. I had to go back to it and after memorising and experimenting I got to the door with just 1 sec left. They could do with giving you an extra 5-10 seconds.

I just discovered you have to 3-star the entire first five chapters to unlock the final one. That's going to be painful.

Yeah the ones with all the flames coming from the left? I think that ones 2-6, I've only gotten one star for that one, trying to get through that without dieing is beyond hard. And then 3-5 with the flames at the top, detonate the TNT but then I either get killed by the flames coming down or I run over to the left and can't get out...

The devs did a wonderful job though, it's hard but you just want to keep playing.

I agree with all of the above. Great game--especially considering the price-tag.

The difficulty is high later on, but I think this is great.

How much is it in American dollars?

It's equivalent to $4. Which is definitely a fair price.

Also if I had to say I dislike one thing it's the weird pauise before you die, it's really distracting.

Yeah, kinda put me off before but I'm kinda used to it now. The only thing I don't like too much is it takes a while for the level to load after you die, which isn't too bad but it's still kind of annoying.

I've unlocked the 4th set of levels and wow they're hard, I think I've finished one, just about. Also in case no one saw it on the front page here's a new level you can download:

This ones not for the faint of heart, it's really hard, with all the boulders crashing down it's hard NOT to get yourself killed, I'm definitely keeping this one.

The QR level is too much right now.

I have 4-1 and 4-2 3-starred but 4-3 needs some trial and error.

The Lost Oasis - Complete!
The Embalmer's Quarters - Complete!
Looter's Entrance - 2: 3-starred
The Antechamber - 0: 3-starred
The Mortuary - 0: 3-starred

I'm gonna try and finish off The Embalmer's Quarter and move on to finishing Looter's Entrance. I've never had so much fun with a game this rage-inducing before, some of the puzzles are right little head scratchers at times too.

Wow that ones hard, I got 2 stars for it, but I think you'll really need to think it through to get 3 stars for that one. D:

If this is as good as it sounds, I might pick it up! It's just typical that I have £3.50 in my account when the games is £3.60! I suppose that's another £10 of my money saved for Vita down the drain!
