Snivy is one of my favorite grass starters. Just found it a lot of fun to play compared to some of the others... mainly you Chikorita... hopefully your Mega Evolution can help with that

I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...
I wouldn't mind if they didn't get secondary types. The secondary types from gen 6 felt really forced; they wanted to implement a theme when it wasn't necessary. I think I like these starters better than gen 5 and 6. Maybe I should get myself a 2DS or something for cheap and get these games.
Also mr. cat looks a lot better in-game than its official artwork.

Tbh I thought you would of had a 2DS/3DS already, there's not manu Wii U owners/Ninty fans who haven't got one.
@jump: I still don't believe it myself either. I own every single Nintendo handheld, from the original GameBoy to the DS. Five years have passed and I still haven't bought a 3DS. I have some friends who own a 3DS, so I borrow it occasionally to play Link Between Worlds in my own time, but I have yet to get myself a 3DS. As I said, maybe this game will convince me. I wasn't a huge fan of the last two games, but I like the earlier games, so who knows?

On the plus side you avoided the train wreck of Triforce Heroes.
Well, it could be a "new 3ds enhanced" title, but I seriously doubt it will be exclusive.
Yeah but the biggest thing stopping me from buying Hyrule Warriors Legends, even though I want to play Linkle's story, is the performance on a normal 3DS. I will be disappointed that I may not be able to play S&M correctly on my normal 3DS. I don't care about the 3D effect but if there are several performance drops during the game, I will be frustrated.

I am worried S&M won't run well on 3DS or 2DS and a New 3DS will be the needed hardware.
People worried about this for a second with ORAS, or was it actually X&Y? Either way, I think it pretty much comes down to that they'd never do that at this point. They know the install base for the entire line except for the New 3DS is much larger and it would be a disaster for the games sales if they made it an exclusive to the system barely anyone has in the scheme of things.
Also you can pretty much guarantee that it'll be like the other 3DS Pkmn games, where it's mostly 2D.

I don't think S&M will be exclusive, but I am worried that it will be slug-ish and not run well on a regular 3DS. Nintendo seems ok with doing that, looking at you Hyrule Warriors Legends and Smash Bros. I either have to fix my 3DS XL for about $100 or go out and buy a New 3DS XL for about $200. I would rather only spend $100 but if the performance on the 3DS XL is terrible then it will probably be better to start saving for a New 3DS XL now.

If anything I'd guess they could use the n3ds capabilities to enable 3d. In the case of graphics, a few frame rate dips here and there should not affect a game like this... Unless they're constant and noticeable.
But by now GameFreak should be perfectly capable of perfecting their 3DS Pokemon engine.... Right?
Anyway, from what I hear, even HWL on the original models is not as terribly unplayable as people made it sound it like. (And smash plays flawlessly too).
@DefHalan: Not sure how many new 3DS systems are sold, but it would be strange if the game didn't run smoothly on a regular 3DS. Pokémon is guaranteed to sell 10 million copies. If that game didn't run very well, the backlash would be pretty huge. So no, I don't think there will be a difference.
@jump: I wasn't really excited for Triforce Heroes anyway, so I don't think I would've got the game. I like single player games better, and Link Between Worlds already does that very well, so there's no reason for me to get Triforce Heroes.
@Octane: Well, X/Y and ORAS have some framerate issues during certain battles, which isn't too bad but S&M looks a lot more massive than X/Y and ORAS. We will see what happens. Hopefully my old 3DS XL will run it well enough.

@DefHalan: I meant even it running slugish would be unacceptable and would turn people away and annoy fans big time. As you said there were a few issues in the 3DS games but it was so mild. At least for me, I never really had a disastrous framerate drop. I'd notice it sometimes but it was only during attacks and it wasn't often. I doubt they'd put more oomph into M&S to push it into further problems.
@Dankykong: Just from what I saw in that trailer, it looks like they are adding more "oomph" into S&M which could increase these problems. Characters are bigger with more animations. It looks like characters are actually shown during battles too. Hopefully it isn't too bad but we will see.
EDIT: Towns are also bigger. Looking back over the trailer, characters may not be shown during the entire battle, but them seem to be shown more that in X/Y.
