Topic: Pokémon Sun & Moon - Discussion & Speculation

So, I just finished the game. The final battle was quite hard for me, I had pokemon about 5 or 4 levels lower and I haven't trained them competitively. I used lycanroc midday, salazzle, decidueye, silvally, vikavolt and golisopod. It was nice to have a challenging battle in the story mode for a change. I loved the battle theme, and the ending was quite touching.

I finally finished the game as well. Took my time finding hidden items and filling my Pokédex along the way. My dex is currently over 50% complete. I love this game. I can safely say that it's my favorite Pokémon game of all time at least until I give that honor back to Pokémon Gold when I feel nostalgic.

I tend to evolve Pokémon and put them back to PC once they've evolved but I kept the fully evolved Pokémon I had after I noticed how close I am to the end of the game. My final team was Toucannon (44), Vikavolt (44), Crabominable (44), Shelgon (45), Toxapex (57), Decidueye (58). Toxapex and Decidueye did most of the battling but Toucannon and Vikavolt were a huge help at times. Crabominable didn't do anything and Shelgon used a couple of Protects. They were mostly there in case everyone else faints and I had to use a Revive. I had 30 Revives going in and ended up using all but one. I wanted to beat the Pokémon League on my first try. The first 3 E4 members were easy but I didn't want to battle against the 4th member and Champion again.

I'm glad I could play the game without seeing spoilers all over the internet. I stayed out of this section of the forum for quite a while. I encountered a couple of spoilers but nothing major and some helped me out. I had both Charjabug and Salandit at one time and didn't know they'd evolve in special ways so I got to put them to PC and train other Pokémon instead. I was also able to find Shiny Slowpoke early in the game while searching for a Bagon. I almost killed it too since I was talking with my sister when it appeared and I used Crunch against it. Luckily it didn't die since I noticed it was a shiny after I used the move. It would've been soul crushing to notice it's a shiny as it faints.

There were some Pokémon I tried to find for hours. I'd search for half an hour a day and come up with nothing. Bagon was one of them and the other was Mareanie. I fished for an hour one day and came up with a theory that it might be related to Corsola but I had to battle them for another hour before they finally called a Mareanie.

Hi, I have a noob question and don't want to open a new thread just to ask it.

I would like to hunt shiny-pokemon once I reach postgame, which is, so I read, a lot easier if one has the shiny charm you get after catching all Alola pokemon.

But how do I get the legendary pokemon from the other version without offering the legendary of my version (I have moon so i would need Solgaleo via trade)? Are people actually trading Solgaleo for anything other than Lunala?

@Meowpheel there is a thread in Online Games for organizing battles/trades in Pokemon. I don't see a reason to fill up the game discussion thread with battle chat.

On a serious note, anyone bummed out that the Battle Tree trainers are so late into the Tree?

There isn't exactly much to discuss about S/M right now. We know everything in the game, almost everybody finished their games, and anything we'd like to share there is a thread for (battle video thread, shiny hunting thread, etc).

So really the thread could be closed or derailed, your pick...

But because I'm no mod, and minimodding isn't exactly encouraged in the guidelines (hint hint), I'm just using the thread for what is it, a general topic to talk about sun and moon related content (including in-game battle)... so about that airline food?

@Araquanid Im in the second island but i always get distracte by breeding eggs for shinies ( currently have 8 boxes of alolan rattatas) and looking at my pokemon games backlog platinum,soul silver,black 2 I 've yet to finish XD

Also, I had the sudden realization that Nihilego.... Was not trying to imitate Lillie... Lusamine was simply trying to make her look like one of them.

When you piece together how Nihilego works Turns out Lusamine wanted Mohn back so badly she became obsessed with getting Nihilego to get him back, as that was her only lead. However, she is a pure person who wants to help Pokémon, hence the genuine Pokémon conservation Aether does. However, Nihilego is a Poison type as it releases a toxin that infects the victim and "Removes inhibition", so basically makes em act on their purest instinct and feel damn good about it. So her conservation became a obsession, as that is her instinct, but it became unrestrained, so her "love" grew and became abusive to those who weren't in her care.

Also, YouTubers, please pronounce Nihilego right. It's not hard. Nihilism + Ego. Nye-Hill-Ego. I don't know where Knee-He-Lego comes from but whatever.

@BLP_Software I gave up trying to pronounce pokemon correctly.

Arceus has officially been pronouced as R-SEE-US, R-SAY-US, and R-KEY-US throughout his entire movie debut through different trailers and then the actual movie.

@Tsurii I analyse the word and find the best pronounciation based on etymology and the such. Hence why I say Nihilego like the sum of the two words.

I say Go-lis-o-pod. I tend to sound American. Drives people nuts when I say Yo-she and not Yoh-she.

I simply pronounce them in Spanish. Like a normal spanish-talking person would.

Unless its one of those names with weird letter combinations that make no sense in Spanish. Or they use the letter H.

@Tsurii but Golisopod is an Isopod so the pronunciation would be Gol I so pod
with a hard I not an E as you prefer
not that it matters at all haha
