There isn't really an invisible wall stopping you from going too high, but your equipment stops bringing you any higher and you automatically start tipping downward after about 4500 ft. It's more of an invisible soft cushion gently steering you back down than an invisible wall. And the other island is...well...you'll just have to see for yourself. There are some golf courses and a hotel, nothing too special, but there is a double plateau-type formation in the middle of the island, which is interesting.
If you add me, I need to at least know you or I won't add you back.
I've gotten way more play time out of this game than I thought I would! I suck at the missions, so trying to get 3 stars on all of them is keeping me pretty busy at the moment. Getting 100% on Free Flight wasn't too tough, but it was an absolute blast while it lasted

I'm 3 staring the missions and find the collectibles, which is really hard to do.

Huh, I have around 8 hours on it and I still haven't 3-starred Diamond and I have some stuff to find in free flight. I'm really happy with it overall. :3
I've just unlocked the Platinum Cup and it will most likely take me a lot of time to get 3 stars in every mission. So i can't complain about longevity at all.
Will any of you return to free flight mode to just simply enjoy the ability to fly around in day, night, sunset???
I don't think i will. I've heard that even after finding everything in Free Flight Mode which will take me some more weeks at least there's still a 5 minute time limit to it. If there was none i probably would.
Edit: It's my first experience with any Pilot Wings game so far.
Perfecting all of the missons is impossible! I always get like one point off of the landing, so I'm not wasting my time trying to perfect my landings. I only need one more gold ring and 4 more mii trophies in free flight. But sadly i don't think I'll spend to much time just flying around after that because I've spent so much time trying to find hat stuff. I'm at about 20 hours now. The game is lasting longer than i thought, for all the collectables in free flight. I've spent 5ish hours just looking for the last stunt ring!

I've gotten 20hrs out of it so far.I've 3 starred all missions and perfected them up to and including silver (the rest are gonna be a b**ch!!) Found most of the stuff in free flight mode so I don't think longevity is a problem.Sure you could blast through the game 1 starring missions in about 3 hours but that isn't what this game is about. If that doesn't appeal to you then I guess you've got the wrong game.
got it tonight and only played like 20 minutes of it since i have school tommorow and cant just get sucked into the game.it seems like a time waster but probably a half hour-hour each time you play type game.its not a zelda game where you can sit down for hours and play it each time.its still good anyway if you have some spare time each day to play something quick and fun.

This is why I still insist that Steel Diver was treated unfairly. Comparison:
Main Misson Mode - Pilotwings
3-ish hours to complete with 3 stars on each mission (basic completion).
all locations already seen in Wii Sports Resort
for the score obsessed, replay the missions to attain a perfect score.
Main Mission Mode - Steel Diver
3-ish hours to complete with all 3 subs on every mission (basic completion)
100% original assets and locations
for the score obsessed, beat the developer's ghosts, which come in 3 successively difficult tiers
additional replay due to unlockable sub modifiers that change your speed, reaction to currents, power, etc
Additional Content - Pilotwings
free-flight mode, with all basic content lifted directly from Wii Sports Resort
Additional Content - Steel Diver
Steel Commander turn-based strategy game, playable against a friend or the CPU. If against the CPU, many unlockable maps of increasing difficulty.
So, if you already played Wii Sports Resort to death, like I did, you get a few great hours out of Pilotwings, and then just replay for higher scores. Steel Diver gives you substantially more, and never shows you anything lifted from another game. I was most amazed by how little attention reviewers gave the strategy mode, many not even realizing that you could play it against the CPU with increasing difficulty and unlocking.
Let me be clear: I was more excited about the prospect of Pilotwings on WuHu than anything, but they didn't even add seasons, additional islands, or amusing flight instructors. It's a fun pack of missions for an existing game, and deserves praise, but somehow became evaluated very unfairly in comparison to Nintendo's completely original IP also available at launch.

Well said actually. Every time somebody posts something along the lines of "It's Wuhu. I saw it already," I just think, so what? It's a location...the gameplay is totally different from its original context, so it's just a familiar backdrop and nothing more.
But I do think you've hit it on the head. The problem isn't that it's the same island...the problem is that the island doesn't get any Pilotwings-specific attention. And whether that's a change in season, or some kind of island-wide festival that you get to watch passively unfold as you complete missions or something, it doesn't matter...just as long as some kind of unique attention was paid.
So, well done. I agree that something should have been done, but that's the first time I've really seen it articulated in a way that made me agree. Well played, sir.
