I got the Link Between Worlds theme, I like the Zelda tune playing in the menu
I got both Zeldas and now they interchange every time you reset/go to sleep mode with the new feature. Really happy with that. Could even use another Zelda theme to shuffle between them. For the 2DS, I have a Pikmin, Shovel Knight and a Smash Bros. (using Smash Bros.)
I'm still in disbelief as to how disgustingly overpriced these are. These themes are $2.60 each in Australia. To put this price in perspective, Gunman Clive is 10c cheaper, and you get a beautiful, polished game with decent replay value. Fractured Souls is now $2.99 in the Australian eShop, just 40c more than the average theme, which also provides something far more substantial than just a wallpaper (PC wallpapers are generally free, no?) and music lifted from an already released game. Some have pointed out that Sony's pricing is very similar, but that does not concern me as Nintendo should be above that. Nintendo should be the one setting trends and standards in the industry, not the alternative.
These themes would have taken little to no time to put together and are mainly comprised of existing assets. I can understand if they had opted to charge $2.60 for a pack of say, five themes, but for ONE theme? Sorry, but I'm not going to pay for a single theme until (if?) they come down in price.
Encouraging this sort of practice will only lead to Nintendo further nickel and diming us in the future, and I would hate to see them stoop to the lows that others before them have sunk to. I love Nintendo, but I do not wish for them to reduce themselves to a lesser of other evils.
"Gee, that's really persuasive. Do you have any actual points to make other than to essentially say 'me Tarzan, physical bad, digital good'?"
It's called supply and demand. No one is forced to buy them. I bought one and already got another two for free. Well, I'd like you could also buy them with play coins. But I don't mind them charging for themes, the 3DS still works the same without them. And the fact that some argue about the price reflects that they are desirable even for many that are not willing to pay for them (at current prices or lower) so good for Nintendo if they can get something out of themes. That's money that will help release new games.
Nintendo fan.
