That gameboy "evolution" idea was a pretty good start, also considering the fact nintendo is probably (slowly) trying games on tablets an stuff like dat.

That would be a step backwards. The dual screen handheld is an innovation that worked tremendously, possibly the best in Nintendo's career.

And the last thing any handheld gaming device needs is full HD display. Games would take 2+ years to develop, cost $60, and take up 10gb+ of memory. That Game Boy Evolution mock-up was awful. Ridiculously overpowered machine with a flimsy interface full of moving, breakable parts that would cost twice as much as a 3DS/Vita and have no games on it.

So Anakin kneels before Monster Mash and pledges his loyalty to the graveyard smash.

Someone may have already said this, but it sounds like what you're looking for is Nintendo's version of a Vita. And, as I think we all know, the Vita is doing terrible. If Nintendo did that, just maybe the same thing would happen, and if Nintendo's handhelds fail, then Nintendo would be just about finished.

The reason the Vita is failing is because of a lack of games. The hardware is excellent for a handheld, in fact it's far superior to the 3DS.

If there's something the Vita is failing because of, it's not for a lack of games — and this is coming from a non-Vita owner. In fact I'd have one if I could afford one! ...but claiming it has no games needs to stop.

This. It may not be an unstoppable juggernaut like the 3DS, but it still has an excellent software library. The problem is that a lot of that library is digital-only, so you don't see the games sitting on store shelves.

Ugh. Men.

And how is that a bad thing? Although, Nintendo's Vita can never compare to the real deal.

Certainly not. Nintendo's handhelds can't match the failure that is the Vita

Ooooooh. Moderators make some harsh burns.

I just want a Nintendo handheld that does 60fps all the time and ideally doesn't have the problems with Aliasing the 3DS has.

A portable Wii U (In the same way as the Turbo Express was to the TG16) would be perfect.

I'd like the next Nintendo handheld to have the same control set-up as the Wii U, except that the circle pads would replace the analog sticks, and the circle pads would be clickable to have that "ZR2 and ZL2" functions. Drop 3D, make both screen multi-touch and possible touch sensitive. Also make the buttons sensitive, so bug catching would be a lot easier in Animal Crossing when putting pressure on the 'A' button.

Sure, I'd agree with the Internet Browser on the 3DS should be more like the Wii U. Although, I would prefer to have Youtube be on the Internet Browser and actually load videos as fast, and make them at least 480p... if that's not asking for me. It could work like the Wii U, where the TV screen would project the videos while you continuing surfing the web or creating multiple tabs for more videos to immediately watch once you finish the one that is currently being played. This is why the Wii U Internet Browser is the best way to enjoy watching Youtube. This is coming to someone who played 300 hours of the Internet Browser in the year of 2013, almost exclusively on Youtube watching from my 100 subscriptions. (yes, I literally have 100 subscriptions)

For my dreams, I wish for an ability to record gameplay and upload that to some area, and I would also like mods. But I doubt that it would ever happen...

Other than that, the rest is mainly just common sense to include. Better graphics, more customizable settings for gameplay or Home Menu functionality (I really want the next 3DS to be as organizable and convenient as Windows 7 and everything... I know that it would never happen), Virtual Console up to Dreamcast or Gamecube... And that's pretty much it. That is the perfect handheld unless you want a printer accessory and the ability to make documents, but who would really need that when nearly any computer already includes that? No, I am not in favor for cheap games the price of dirt such as the ones on Apple's store, by the way...

@Obito_Tennyson ... several flaws in your wishes for the next portable. The stereoscopic technology is new, but it is catching on, and big. People want true 3D, and for many of us, like me, it is the only way we can play some games because the flat displays mess with our visual reflexes causing vertigo and other problems. So no, hopefully they will not be rid of that, and since it is in high enough demand it would be suicidal as other device manufacturers will likely begin implementing the technology themselves very soon. It is here to stay.

"Clickable" circle pads means way more hardware, for a controller it works as, historically, controllers have been accessories to the consoles. But on a portable unit that would be difficult to make repairs the hardware for such things would increase the cost astronomically, and then Nintendo will have it's own Vita problem. Yes, Nintendo caters to a wider audience, that also means it must keep it's primary hardware as inexpensive as possible while maintaining the lead in innovation, this means we have to accept that some features will always be lacking.

For both to be touch screen would be another huge cost increase, and an unnecessary one. The dual screen concept is actually centered around the the "one touch, one visual" idea, so you can access menu systems on the touch screen while the visual screen displays all the really cool scenes that make games worth playing. This is why the control buttons are situated the way they are, the touch screen is a control just like the buttons. However, multitouch would be a nice enhancement, I have been hoping for multitouch since day one, but meh, small feature to miss out on for the time being.

Some of what you ask is redundant and unnecessary, but we are all allowed to dream. A few are what they always do anyway, better graphics, audio, etc. The trick is finding the right amount in which to improve these without causing the final price to be unaffordable by most of their loyal fans, like me.

Oh, and asking for anyone to copy Microsoft is asking them to destroy their system. Bad idea.

Seriously, you're stuck in the past if you want the next Nintendo handheld to be called a Gameboy. A name doesn't change what it is, only it's perception. Heck, reviving the Gameboy brand would likely be harmful to Nintendo. Nintendo's target audience, kids, didn't grow up with a Gameboy, they grew up with a DS.

I have a better idea, how about Nintendo continues to do different things with their systems instead.

Regardless of the digital library, the Vita section in stores still looks pitiful in comparison to every other system out there.

Just buy a PS Vita and slap a Nintendo logo sticker on it.

I would buy that. A Nintendo console that is actually powerful? Insta-buy for me. Until then, I'll choose Nintendo over power (at least with portables. Consoles are a little more complicated.)

My SD Card with the game on it is just as physical as your cartridge with the game on it.
I love Nintendo, that's why I criticize them so harshly.
