Topic: New Super Mario Bros 2 & Kirby announcement

Well this applies to both 3DS and Wii, but I decided to post it here. Anyway, Nintendo just announced that New Super Mario Bros. 2 will release on the 3DS this August and there will be a Kirby Compilation for the Wii to celebrate Kirby's 20th Anniversery. Comments?

Bland new super Mario brros 2 Rt is bland

Why not a 2d game with the galaxy/3d land art style.

Itmight be bland, but it's gonna sell. And this was their pre announced 2d Mario game for the 3ds, so it was kind of expected for me. I'm just suprised they're selling it in August.

Well uninspired 2d marios are easy to develop.

Makes me sad rayman origins went bomba but this is still is going to sell like hotcakes.

Wow....woooow! I never thought I'd ever say this about a Mario game but...
I-I...I don't care. More New Super Mario Bros. and Tanooki suit. Nothing new whatsoever. As of now anyways. Well, technically that's raccoon Mario, not Tanooki suit, so it's kind of new. Still I may just not buy this game. I'm really starting to worry about Nintendo.
And boo at the Kirby Conpilation. I don't own a Wii. Hurray for 20 years of the pink puff ball anyways. I love him.

NSMB2 on the 3DS is the best news ever. It works so much better on handhelds... it's designed to be much more compact and the art style looks incredible on the DS, as opposed to on a TV, which looks terrible.

Hmm... I don't know.

I loved NSMB on the Wii, but I found the original DS game to have the blandest level design in the history of Mario's main series. Now, if NSMB2 were to take a cue from SMB2 and feature a crazy, imaginative alternate world filled with all the odd elements from that black-sheep classic, I'd be all over it. But if it uses all the same art assets as the first game, what's the dang point?

Im only getting NSMB 2 if it has co-op Download Play, or Online Play. Otherwise, I just might not buy it...I still need KI:U anyway, so...

Also, a system update with folder support. Huh.

Much better news than Bland Super Mario Bros. 2.!! Seriously, unless Nintendo makes it like the actual SMB 2 this is really dissapointing. I'm being way too negative though. We barely have 1 screenshot of the game. I really have no right to judge it right now. I'm just going to hold off on judging the game until we get some real info. As of now I'm just felling "yay, more Mario."

I wonder if New Super Mario Bros. 2 is based on Super Mario bros. 2...

Huh, from your link "The firmware will also add support for software version up/patches. Nintendo's first patch will be Mario Kart 7. The patch will fix some shortcut issues with the game. Iwata apologies for causing players inconvenience." Didn't see that one coming.

Ooh, evidently Iwata also said that the new system update will make patching retail games easier. Which is interesting, to be sure.

New Super Mario Bros. 2??? AW HADES YEAH!!! That on top of Wii U SMB is bliss for a side-scroller fan like myself! My only qualms is that they're obviously going with a Super Mario Bros. 3 theme again, with the "P bar" in the lower left corner. If they're going with a theme from a past game, Super Mario World is so painfully overdue for some love! Oh well, I'll hold out hope for NSMB Mii for Wii U.

Also, what's the deal with this being NSMB 2 when we had NSMB Wii? Or is this another numbering nuance between Japan and the rest of the world? Looks like Super Mario Bros./Super Mario Bros. 2/Super Mario USA (2) (and the first 6 Final Fantasies) all over again!

Regardless, I couldn't be more thrilled. There was such a long Mario side-scroller drought in the N64-GameCube era, and I'm glad it's a thing of the past!

Glad to see someone who shares my enthusiasm! I'm not sure about this one, but I bet we get a level editor/creator with New Super Mario Bros. Mii (or whatever it'll ultimately be called). One thimg: Is August for this only a Japanese release date, or worldwide? I hope worldwide. It'll make the wait for Wii U much easier...

I'd have personally wanted new game announcements other than the inevitable mario game, but getting some info on theatrhythm dlc is pretty nice, and the Kirby compliation I may pick up depending on what games are in it, how much, and if there's anything extra coughkirbyplushycough
