After a decade, my New Nintendo 3DS (not XL) needs a battery replacement. The rest of the hardware is fine. It's actually in much better state than my Nintendo Switch OLED, that I have used much less. I just beat Bravely Second, and whenever the AC adapter was not plugged into a wall outlet, the battery would suddenly end its cycle suddenly, with no red LED warning. One of the times I even had to set the date and time again. I guess it's dead.
Anyway, my question is where to get an official battery or, if they are no longer sold, which battery clones would you recommend? I know some batteries out there are bad and I'd like to avoid them.
You’ll be hard pressed to find an official battery now, they haven’t been made for several years at this point. I’d probably recommend iFixit for a replacement, just make sure you get the right one for the New 3DS (KTR-003)
I once read that the Switch Pro Controller uses the same battery as the New 3DS.
But I have no idea if Nintendo sells the battery separately.
Edit: I was mistaken, it uses the same battery as the original 3DS and 2DS, not the one from the New 3DS.
