I've got lot's of flipnotes to rev up and share, but for now, here's two that won a weekly contest, and also even made it on the best of hatena channel (a channel that only the admins could post to)

I didn't think I'd ever see my flipnotes again...

But I looked through some old .txt documents and found my ID and Password for Hatena (they are impossible to recite like I do with most of my other passwords), and now I'm able to import my flipnotes from 2009!

The first one was supposed to be the first of several in a series called "Epic Manoevers [sic]"

The second one was a loop that was supposed to be practice for something bigger, but I never did anything with it.

I didn't really get much out of the app, but I look forward to seeing what I can do with the tools inthis new one.

I opened up flipnote yesterday, to try and see if I could get the friends gallery and world gallery to work. Nothing doing, so I thought I'd listen to the Hatena jingle again by restarting the app (gives me so much nostalgia).

I was notified of an update, which I applied, and when I ran the app again, the galleries ("world" and "friend") were no longer there. Did they send out the wrong build for Europe or something? I'm curious as to what the world gallery was like.

Is it available in North America? Now, the only option to share flipnotes with other 3DS owners is locally, which sucks.

I meant are the 'Friends Gallery' and 'World Gallery' options available in North America. In Europe, briefly, there were three pages at the start menu - when I ran the update, they changed it to just two pages, effectively removing the World Gallery and Friend Gallery. Thankfully, there's still the option to import your animations from hatena, but you can't browse other people's hatena accounts any more...

EDIT: It would appear the animations are no longer hosted on the server. According to that link you gave me, the animations were removed from the hatena servers on the 31st of March - the day Flipnote was made available to those in Europe...

I entered several, and none of them worked (it said there were no flipnotes on the accounts).

Was I just unlucky? I didn't want to check every single one and risk none of them working.

What's flipnote and how do I animate on it?

Flipnote is an animation tool for the 3DS. Unfortunately, I don't think it's publically available any more. The only way to get it was to sign up to MyNintendo, but I'm not sure it's being offered any more.

It's had a very troubled past - it had been released in Japan a few years ago and everyone was looking forward to it, but some perverts started communicating with children (in Swapnote - an early app for the 3DS), and Nintendo flipped their sh#t, removing all social aspects of swapnote. They decided to completely neuter Flipnote as well...

It was available on the MyNintendo site and I grabbed it, forgetting I already had the software already. D'oh!
