The Chozo archives are very interesting. Unrevealed parts of the lore can be interpreted. I'll put it in a spoiler tag since you only unlock the entire gallery after 100% completing the game.
As we know the Chrozo created the Metroid species to hunt down the X parasite. The Metroids were controlled by the Chozo for protective purposes. However as revealed some of the Chozo are corrupt, and unlike the peaceful Chozo they seek war. They used Metroid to overthrow their regime and eventually lost control of the Metroid species.
Samus was raised by the good Chozo, the baby Metroid she finds at the end of the game is one created by the Chozo to be obedient.
This is just a theory, maybe the baby Metroid does think Samus is the mother, but pherhaps there's more to it than that? I wouldn't be at all surprised if Samus at one point has to take arms against the corrupt Chozo.
There were no further upgrades. There was nowhere else to go.
It was end of the line. Either bomb hop or shut the system off and stop playing

So far, I'm loving this game. First night, I got stuck, but I think I was tired after a long day of work and wasn't thinking clearly lol. Haven't had any problems since and just made it to area 3. Whenever I do get stuck, or lost, I usually just take a break and when I come back I can usually figure it out right away.
Well made game.

@JaxonH Na, there's no where you NEED to bomb hop to in order to progress in the game. Maybe for missiles or something, but as far as forward progress to complete game, or go further, no you don't need to bomb hop. You just haven't found what is required for that area. Anyways, no biggie. I've been playing Metroid since the original, so I bomb hop a lot too.
@Sir_AnthonyIt honestly seems like the deadliest quality of Metroids isn't their life-sucking, but rather their ability to corrupt anybody that comes near them. Pretty much every faction that has come into contact with them becomes obsessed to the point of being unable to do anything without them. Pirates, post-Super Federation... and now seemingly corrupt Chozo. Suddenly the "Phazon connection" raised by Dark Tallon Metroid scans doesn't sound so far-fetched... and after Fusion, the only Metroid left is... Samus, both literally (I don't buy her DNA being restored to normal at the end of the game) and figuratively (the word Metroid being a Chozo term for "ultimate warrior").
On another note, I'm really digging the soundtrack CD selection. It has most of my favourite tracks across the whole series.
As someone who has never played a metroid game before, would this game be worth it?
To leave you out of the dark here.
Yea its worth it. I'd say its one of the more difficult metroids in the franchise, but overall you can expect similar gameplay and quality in other metroids (in other words, you may get motivated to try to others and enjoy them as just much if not more if you like this game).

Soooo, my dumb a$$ made it to area 3 finally, do some exploring, and it's definitely a harder area (bad guys hit harder and are harder to kill) and I stumble upon a save point. Woo hoo! I save, with only 64 health lol. Everything in either direction is 1 hit killing me... hmmm.... When I get time to play again, I'll have to make a run for a safer area to get health lol.

@NineJujuBeats Nope no rush. At least not on first play through. I want to learn the maps well before trying to get a good time on a play through, which if anything like old Metroids, is what's important.
EDIT: I have extra tanks, they are just currently depleted where I happened to save it at lol.
I got stuck a bit on the fourth metroid in area one. Lost about half an hour wondering around like and idiot, until I went back to the metroid beacon on the map and sussed a bit of tricky platforming to the little bugger. Love it.
I can't seem to figure out how to get the various expansions blocked by red spikes though, none of Samus' abilities seem to work against them and the Baby doesn't seem interested in breaking them. How do you get those remaining expansions?
