Haha, it's Rainbow Road — it isn't supposed to be relaxing! You're supposed to be constantly cursing the game and all who made it, at least until you've memorized the course, at which point the designers are geniuses worthy of nothing but praise.
I'm curious how the DS one can bore anyone. You have several loops, no walls, and constant speed boosts that can throw you off the side if you don't have yourself aimed well. Whether you like it or not is one thing, but I don't see how it could possibly be consider "boring," personally. It's constant excitement, whether that excitement is positive (weee, I barely stayed on the track!) or negative (&#)&! you, who put that speed boost there!).
I like to expect the final track of a game to be hard like the final boss for any other kind of game should be, and the N64 one was the only one I didn't feel delivered since the whole thing has walls and most of the time there really isn't anything going on. There are far more hazardous tracks even in earlier cups.
I found everything about MKDS to be mediocre. Probably the weakest entry in the franchise (but I really need to play Super Circuit first), whereas Double Dash and Wii are the pinnacle of the franchise. It's also very disappointing that there's more DS stages in MK7 than Double Dash levels.
Just for you. "I'm just a musical prostitute, my dear." - Freddie Mercury
I've never heard of MKDS referred to with anything other than unreserved adoration since it came out. Someone is organizing all these comments to some foul purpose.
My only gripe with MKDS was "snaking". I did it too and it can be fun sometimes for the sense of speed but it kinda made things broken. Otherwise, I consider MKDS the best Mario Kart, personally.
How is it broken? It is just a skill that everyone can do. It wasn't the first game to have it. It just became high profile because it was the first game online.

Super Circuit is definitely the weakest in the franchise, and while I agree with you the Double Dash was the best release, I think MKDS was a solid and enjoyable game as well.
If you add me, I need to at least know you or I won't add you back.
They're... different. You might take that back once you've played them. Super is very different from the series in general. SC is a hybrid of SMK and MK64. I like both a lot, but the handling is so very different that you can't just pick it up and play after getting used to the later games. It won't feel right.
Toad because he has won me races for years but also my mii character, I enjoy racing as "myself". I might pick Wario on the rare occasion but that is because my first game was wario land 3 for my gameboy colour and it gives me a heavyish weight character I'm familiar with for races in case I don't feel like light weight or my medium class mii.

I find the chain chomps way too easy to avoid to make up for much else. They are really cool though. They should bring those back and put them more along bends and such to make it more challenging.
