I had to laugh last night when I was playing last night against one friend (Some of you may know her- Soba*, Sammy's sister). She was whooping me practically the whole time we were racing, but I didn't mind a bit. Then at one point on Maple Tree Way I picked up a blue shell. I dropped it right away, but somehow at that second she managed to fall behind me. So when I let go of the shell it bombed ME instead. It was in the part where I was flying, so of course I fell into the black void. I couldn't believe it! What dumb luck.
That was definitely not dumb luck. It's a common technique to drop out of first the moment you see a player holding a blue shell. That way someone else will take the hit while you go along your merry way.

I love that trick. Me and two other guys happily let one foolish idiot pass us as he voluntarily took on the spiny shell for us all. He sacrificed everything to see him in first, even if it was for a second.
Since we're on the subject of blue shells (for the 100th time again, lol) did anyone else know that if you get hit by a red or green shell right before the blue shell smashes down, you will be completely unaffected by the explosion? It happened to me before but today it happened right before I was about to finish. I was on SNES Rainbow Road, and I noticed that someone threw a blue shell right as I took the second-to-last corner. I wasn't worried at all because I had a mushroom saved to dodge it and I was half a lap ahead of everyone anyway. In fact I could probably have finished before the shell hot me, but I slowed down just so that I could show off my blue shell dodging skills. Then I heard a red shell. At first, since I forgot that getting hit by another item makes you temporarily immune to blue shells, I thought "f*** you stupid red shell" just as the red shell hit me, preventing me from using my mushroom. I was at first surprised when the blue shell smashed into me with no effect, and then I was like "oh yeah, silly me I forgot about that." Of course the blue shell wouldn't have been a problem anyway in this case, but imagine if there were three players behind you ready to pass you and snatch away your victory, and you slowed down in the hopes of taking them down with you, but then this happened and then the other players got blown up while you zoomed past the finish. That would be the definition of unbelievable luck. P.S. red shell, I take back the bad things I said about you. You're quite useful sometimes, although I still hate it when the person behind me has three of you.

Maybe you guys roll your eyes when you hear my question, but is there a online leaderboard at all? Because I played all the cups at 50cc and played a few timetrials. And read the electronic manual. But as far as I have seen there is really no online leaderboard, wich is a bit of a pity!
I swear I saw TJ fall off on purpose on Rainbow road SNES several times only to appear back on the track seconds later multiple times. Is that another glitch? Or is the spectating thing online just awful?

That's actually quite common for me during a race. People fall off the course then reappear. I would suppose it is just some glitchy online.
@Retro: It's normal, connection issues and whatnot. never trust that someone's actually fallen off the edge of a track until you see yourself go up a spot in the race, lol. :3

Yeah I get this a lot, it's just a slight lag. Sometimes you feel so relieved when you see them fall off lol.
Hmm, wouldn't it be cool if we could race in two teams online? like in Mario Kart DS vs mode.
I wish for the same in battle mode...
MK Wii did that, and everyone hated it...besides, if you really need to play battle mode in teams for whatever reason, can't you just play offline? (There's an option for teams when you play SP/local multiplayer.)

It makes sense. By one person being wrong, in respects they are wrong because everyone else is right, but if everyone else is wrong, there is no one to judge based on being wrong, so the standards of being wrong are lifted, thus making everyone right.

So you're saying that 2000 years ago, the Earth was indeed flat and located at the center of the Universe just because nobody knew any better? Where facts are concerned, your logic is significantly flawed.
As for the topic at hand, this idea only supports the decision to go back to free-for-all Battle Mode in MK7.
