I was playing online for quite a few hours earlier (I'm usually not able to play online so trying to take advantage of it while i still have the chance) and luckily Wuhu Mountain Loop (or Maka Wuku) was only picked a few times the whole time. I really don't like the glitch being there, but in my experience somebody will use it nearly every single time, so I feel like I have no choice really but to do it myself, otherwise It'll just end up in an unavoidable loss. I never pick the track myself as I don't like the idea of cheating, but if anyone else does then I'll do what I have to do.
i'm so glad i don't ever race with any of you cheaters.

@jackjt8: 'almost everyone does it'... not really. it's usually one or three bad apples who spoil the race for everyone else.

Me too. I've never used it, and I never will. The mindset that "everyone else is doing it wrong so I can/have to too" is what's got everything so f***'d up everywhere. It's just going to keep getting worse if you join in.
Oh yeah, and after a long rage quit, I'm hooked on this again. Nnooooooo!! DDD:
@Klapacius: the one you're looking for is the Wuhu Loop glitch, I think. That's the one that only puts you 3 seconds ahead, and not many people do it because it's so easy to thwart — especially if you get it wrong.

The problem with the glitch is that it exists, and it's so easy to pull off. There are nearly always going to be at least one or two that attempt it, usually especially the person who actually chooses it. If Nintendo found a way to fix it, then that would be great, as I always hate when stuff like this semi-ruins games online, but otherwise, pretty much the only way to win on the track is by using it. I always feel sorry for everyone else in the race who chooses not to use it or doesn't know about it, but if I don't use it then it'll feel like I'm deliberately losing.
The best way to avoid it is to never choose the track yourself so that it comes up as little as possible, but when it does get chosen, your choices are to either use it and have a chance of winning, or go the real way and compete for third or fourth.
I always take the proper way around the course, regardless of if there are cheaters. Partly because winning has no value in this game unless you look at the incredibly long term of reaching 10,000 points (thus a few lost races is irrelevant), and partly because it's easier to get the full 10 coins by not cheating.
Seriously, I play the game to have fun, and winning is never an integral part of enjoying myself.
The reason I join in the bandwagon is because all the cheaters will take my potential VR out of greed, which trumps the fact that winning isn't everything. I do attempt to rig the drop-off to tick off the exploiters though. My approach: never vote for Maka Wuhu, and if it's voted for, I'll rig it, do it, try to keep aiming all my shell, etc., and bump into those who voted for it. Voting for it makes you the ultimate loser and bad example of good sportsmanship. Please don't do it.
Many exploits, like the magical (or glitchy) crate on the map Station from Goldeneye 007 for the Wii, are fair to me. It's a blast, but a game-destructive, course ruining (and a good one at that), glitch as in Maka Wuhu is unfair. Never vote for it, or we can make a community that tests your ability to play fair (and the losers will purposely join and do it in a vain attempt to gain VR, which to them is status). If that were to happen, which is inevitable, we should all rage (or is it fair to) quit. It's a good idea. Anyone want to try?
I just played for a few hours and each time the course was chosen practically every single person was using it. It's going to get to the point where that's just the normal way around the course, and anyone who elects not to use it will just come dead last. It really sucks that it's in the game, and like VincentV said, don't vote for it, but when it does get chosen it's pretty much the only way to race on that course unless you want to be driving around by yourself a mile behind the rest of the pack.
I'm going to try a new strategy. Since I'll never finish first anyway (as I refuse to join the cheaters), if I have a shell or mushroom at the first checkpoint, I'll come to a stop and watch for those who slow down to use the glitch. Once I have a target, I'll try to nail him/her just before he/she drives off the edge, then I'll continue the race like normal. If I'm successful, I probably won't finish in last place, anyway.
Come of think of it, I could also try to drop a banana at the right spot. There's a chance that it could stop everyone from glitching that particular race.
Ash: Professor Oak, how's your Bulbasaur?
Prof. Oak: Oh, it only hurts when I sit.
...
Prof. Oak: It's only Chansey if Krabby won't let go. Bye, now.
Ash: I don't think I'm going to call him anymore.
