@NeonShell7 - Ok, I checked and I do have the Birthday Girl, guess I missed it as I paid no attention to it and rarely change up kart parts. I haven't received the Gold Glider (10k coins or 100 Streetpasses), but I do have the Gold Wheels. From the few stat charts I looked up on Gamespot, I apparently have all the parts except for the 2 other gold parts with a current total of 4,578 Coins. I guess when I reach the 5,000 Coin mark I'll see what happens.

Huh, that's interesting. I heard that you can unlock other parts with Streetpass (not just the gold glider which is 100 streetpasses) but I'm not sure exactly how that works because I never got any parts that way. On the super mario wiki it says that the Beast Glider normally takes 5000 coins to unlock, but if you unlock parts with streetpass, it can be obtained sooner. So I'm thinking you probably got one part with streetpass, however the system works.

Use the controller as a rear-view mirror. You'll be able to see other racers and weapons coming up from behind you, giving you time to (hopefully) swerve out of the way.
Use the controller as a map display and general HUD. But that's already been done on the DS Mario Kart games.
Use the controller's stylus to aim your weapon, allowing you to fire directly at your opponents.
Use the gyro controls to steer, like in Mario Kart Wii.
Use the controller's microphone to shout at other racers passing you by, causing them to get distracted and drive off the road.

I like the last idea you had. That would be funny seeing them drive off-road.

I like the idea of using the controller as a rear-view mirror and using it the same way as the bottom screen in DS and 7. How about being able to cycle through three modes for the controller screen: 1) rear-view mirror 2) local area map like the bottom screen in DS/7 showing items, characters, standings, etc. 3) global mini-map like the other mode for the bottom screen in DS/7, using ZL/ZR to step through the three modes. The main problem I have with using the bottom screen to aim items is that first of all, you wouldn't even have any time to take out the stylus except before the race, and then you would have to hold the stylus for the entire race in your left hand, because your right hand is busy holding the A button. While that might be fine for left-handed people, then the L button would become inaccesible, making it impossible to throw the item you were aiming in the first place. The only option would be to use your finger without the stylus to aim, and even then the reachable part of the screen would be quite small and you wouldn't be able to steer. BTW, I'm sure this has been asked before, but what is your favorite character and kart? Mine is Lakitu. All his stats except for speed, weight and off-road are really good. I use Egg 1 + Roller tires + Paraglider, giving me both unbeatable underwater speed and acceleration plus great mini-turbo power. All my other stats are above average with the exception of speed, weight and off-road.
