thats the problem. what do you unlock for every cup in every CC? its not like you can unlock additional characters... Plus, coins are used for parts, so not sure if you can unlock bodies by completing cups.. can you?
Then again... MK7 has more characters than MKDS... But wow, Waluigi is missing.. I still can't get over how strange that is.

That's what I read so far... Daisy is in.. But not Waluigi. Those two always appear together in Mario spin-off games (besides DDR Mario Mix). And Wario having to be unlocked bugs me because I always use him from the start. Nothing against Koopa, but he being there from the start taking Wario's place, essentially, is weird. Though, as mentioned before, it's also strange how the starting roster resembles SMK's sans DK Jr.

Well, Baby Park was in DS and B Mario and Luigi weren't in that game. Yet regardless, no reason to cut Waluigi out. And i have to say this: Metal Mario should not even be a stand alone character. It was better for them to have the Metal Box as an item and made you immune to attacks, similar to Star Power but your speed is slightly reduced instead of sped up. Wonder what happened with the Boo item... also..

You don't start unlocking characters until the 150cc cups unfortunately which means I'll have to wait a while to play as Wario who is my favourite character. Here are all the unlockable characters and how to unlock them: Daisy: Win 150cc Mushroom Cup Wario: Win 150cc Flower Cup Rosalina: Win 150cc Star Cup Metal Mario: Win 150cc Special Cup Shy Guy: Win 150cc Shell Cup Honey Queen: Win 150cc Banana Cup Wiggler: Win 150cc Leaf Cup Lakitu: Win 150cc Lightning Cup Mii: Win all cups on any cc.
I don't see the reason for Waluigi to have ever existed at all since, so I'm okay with it. I like the starting roster being a throwback to the original. The original was good times.
150cc Shell Cup will be the first thing I play when I get the game.
I got no problems with the roster either. I understand some people are losing their favorite characters, but it still seems like some are over reacting. It's cool that Nintendo drastically changed the line up for this one. As odd as it sounds not every big Mario character has to be in it. Just the main Mario & Luigi. Then things go which ever way Nintendo wants to go from there.
What they should do for Wii U....have every single character and track that ever existed into one game. (along with their usual new characters and 16 new tracks thing, lol)

That would be the Mario Kart to end all Mario Karts...for at least 6 years. I would love a game like that but doubt Nintendo would do it. Maybe through DLC.
I mean, I never really use Waluigi. I just find it strange how he's missing. either way, I used Mii almost exclusively. And i welcome new characters, don't get me wrong.. But Metal Mario? Eh, dunno about that. I would have gone with Samus
C'mon Retro.. Could have had Metroids flying around on Rainbow Road...
