No, I wasn't the one who brought it up again. And yes, I've looked on youtube. I think you're still confusing MKWii with Double Dash.

I posted the video in this thread. If you don't read posts before arguing, that is your problem. I never confused the two. I posted one of Double Dash, and later one of MKW.
Snaking in a time trial and snaking in an actual race are two different things. No one will beat me in MKWii by snaking. Obviously the developers of MK thought snaking was a problem since they changed the style of drifting. I liked the original style of drifting too, until it was exploited. The real "skill" is winning without exploiting game mechanics.
This is my last post on the subject.

Snacking functions exactly the same in a race or time trial. Of course you can beat someone snacking in a race. I can beat someone who uses a bike, too, and bikes are better. I never said it was unbeatable, just that it saves time (which is sometimes useful in racing games).
And like I said numerous times, MK64 didn't have snacking, so the game mechanic is not inherently exploitable. Better playtesting would have found that the Egg 1 was overpowered compared to the other karts and could snack like no one's business.
Removing the old style drifting was more likely a result of the controls rather than some reaction to snacking (snacking was in Double Dash and they didn't think to remove it from MKDS). Motion controls made that method impossible or impractical, and it would be unfair to make boosting work better on the Classic Controller.
...motion controls... I should have thought of that earlier. Of course drifting will work the same way in MK7. Tilt steering is an option. Duh. The answer was staring right at us long before NP mentioned it.
(Edited all instances of "snaking" to read "snacking" because it makes the post sound tastier.)

Now snacking is something I don't mind talking about. I just snacked on a McDouble and fries a moment ago.

One of the biggest disappointments with the DS game, as awesome as it was, is that the gamecube retro stages were modified to the point of mutilation. "You mean to tell me I can't even go on the top railing of Mushroom Bridge? What!?" "Oh, you took that cool shortcut out of Yoshi Circuit?" That, and the online had a lot of levels removed.
It was limited by the hardware, but 7 isn't. It's adding stuff to old courses and improving them. I haven't played it yet but can easily tell 7 will be my favorite MK game.

DS is my favorite (tied with SMK) because it played exactly like the previous game (minus DD gimmick) unlike every Mario Kart before it and finally added stuff to the game instead of just slightly changing the gameplay enough to make it worse like every Mario Kart after SMK (as again, the basic racing by itself played exactly the same as DD and so does MKWii).
Also, the roller coaster in Baby Park was removed. Hearing the people scream while racing around kinda added to the excitement to that track and I even kinda raced against it in DD

So I guess the tanooki tail is useless if there is no one near you?
It does look awesome though. I love the old school sound effect every time you swing it.
I definitely agree. I just watched the splendid video in the Nintendo Show 3D in the eShop and was dazzled beyond words. I really like the Tanooki Tail power up and I am looking forward to buying MK7.

Yeah, that's the video I was thinking of.
If there is one thing that I want to try out the most about this game, it's the gliding. It's new and original in a racing game, and it just looks like so much fun.

I think it protects from items/shells. It'd be cool if it could block the blue shell.

They could have toned the shell down a bit, who knows. Then again I think I remember someone saying that once it reaches its target that it takes flight and dive bombs him/her then...so, I dunno.

Yes because the Tanooki Tail could swish or bat the shell away from you! I'm also very excited about the gliding as well. Flight is truly a tremendously unexpected and innovative addition to Mario Kart. When Iwata said they were going to reinvent Mario Kart I was bit skeptical but the underwater and flight abilities are very exciting!
MKDS didn't have a good online, but no MK before it had online at all, so I can't count that against it. It was awesome to be able to play MK online for the first time ever, unbelievably awesome. It was actually the first non-PC game I ever played online. MKW and MK7 (will) have better online, but comparing online modes is kind of irrelevant since no one plays MKDS online anymore.
I thought the DS courses were the best yet. Yoshi Falls, Luigi's Mansion, the airship level, DK Summit (the snow level?), and perhaps the best Rainbow Road. It had really cool karts, too. Though it wasn't good, I loved that they added Bowser's flying smiley thing as a kart.
It will be sad not to have anyone to play against, but I may need to pick up a copy of that one again someday. Going to hold off on rebuying Double Dash in case Wii U can download GCN games (fingers crossed) and avoid having to use Cube controllers. I hate how the Wii looks with Cube controllers and memory cards connected, and that is somehow enough for me not to want to play Cube games on it.
MKDS and MKDD are also awesome for being the only ones to allow 8p local, but they would have been the best even without that. I am hoping (and feel pretty confident) that MK7 will complete my personal holy trinity of MK goodness.
