MKDS didn't have a good online, but no MK before it had online at all, so I can't count that against it. It was awesome to be able to play MK online for the first time ever, unbelievably awesome. It was actually the first non-PC game I ever played online. MKW and MK7 (will) have better online, but comparing online modes is kind of irrelevant since no one plays MKDS online anymore.
I thought the DS courses were the best yet. Yoshi Falls, Luigi's Mansion, the airship level, DK Summit (the snow level?), and perhaps the best Rainbow Road. It had really cool karts, too. Though it wasn't good, I loved that they added Bowser's flying smiley thing as a kart.
It will be sad not to have anyone to play against, but I may need to pick up a copy of that one again someday. Going to hold off on rebuying Double Dash in case Wii U can download GCN games (fingers crossed) and avoid having to use Cube controllers. I hate how the Wii looks with Cube controllers and memory cards connected, and that is somehow enough for me not to want to play Cube games on it.
MKDS and MKDD are also awesome for being the only ones to allow 8p local, but they would have been the best even without that. I am hoping (and feel pretty confident) that MK7 will complete my personal holy trinity of MK goodness.
Pfff, DS Rainbow Road the best? Yeah a looping is cool and all but it was way too easy.
Also, the roller coaster in Baby Park was removed. Hearing the people scream while racing around kinda added to the excitement to that track and I even kinda raced against it in DD
I swear the roller-coaster stole a chain chomp form you if you passed under it with one.

That doesn't make sense. Every track is as difficult as the opponent you're racing.
No, while thats certainly 75% of it.. In every other mario kart, there was a huge risk of falling of the road, not on DS and it didnt have any stage hazards to compensate., and thats what makes the other 25%.
Yeah, DS's RR was short, easy and boring...only "hazard" was getting hit while gong through the loop. Now, when racing on DD's RR...that was a pain, I guess the Wii's was somewhat hard too. (not by much though)

Keep it PG-13-ish.
DS's Rainbow Road was narrow with lots of curves and boost pads on the curves. If you want a good time, you need to hug the inside of the curve while powersliding constantly AND hitting the boosts. That's extremely perilous. If you are just racing casually, I guess it's not exciting in the same way that less serious players don't care about Yoshi Falls because you can just stay in the middle of the track and still get a decent time, but if you are trying to shave every possible second off, it can be nerve wracking as you are always taking huge risks if there is a player close behind or banana peels cleverly laid.
That said, I kind of had it confused with MKDD's Rainbow Road, which did the same thing but was more over the top ridiculous. So while I think that one is better, MKDS's is still a lot of fun. Don't really remember MKW's well, but I liked it. I like all of the RR's except 64's.
Did the rollercoaster steal a chain chomp from you?

I thought that was the only way to race on rainbow roads. I mean, you could argue that Yoshi Falls is easy but I fell off the edge trying to shave seconds off my time countless times. Same with Bowser's castle on Mario Kart DS to some extent (it's fun powersliding up that spiral BTW)
Now Mario Kart 64's Rainbow Road..... I could probably count the number of times I've fallen off that track on one hand if I had bothered to count them.

How could you have fallen off? The whole track is fenced.
Why do people point to their wrists when asking for the time, but don't point to their crotch when they ask where the bathroom is?
I've fallen trying to do the shortcut at the beginning, where you hop right before hitting the fence, fly over it, and land on another part of the track.
