I can confirm one other thing, (not sure about other colors that are newer models but I herd about some) that the border of the bottom touch screen on the Purple 3DS is different. Which I guess even more with the scratching issue as well as the bigger bumpers.
Yes, that is the way to do it. I tried setting up a repair for mine through there website, but they wouldn't except it. Calling them did the trick. They instantly understood what I meant. I still have the clicky open and closing screen though, But they fixed the scratching issue nicely for me. I still keep a cloth between the screens though, just for some insurance.
I think I found you all's screen scratching problem.
I did a close observation of my 3DS. I've noticed the border meets the screen but I think you all's problem is, you all push it down too hard.
Mostly people who put the 3DS in their tight pockets encounter this problem but newer 3DS have bigger bumpers (and as far as I know the purple version) has a different bottom screen border shape.
I don't think you can tell from this angle. Also the Dpad and buttons are made out of a different material/color. The hinge isn't wobbly and dose not click.
It's not the color it's the time it was manufactured. But you wouldn't know when that was though... I tell you my Purple 3DS came with different manuals and the AR cards were packaged differently.
Yeah I got a Flame Red 3DS in January to replace my Aqua Blue one that I felt was too loose in the hinge and it ended up getting a loose hinge too (but not as bad.) Plus I can slide the bottom screen panel around a little with the touch screen too. The bottom screen also marks the top but I use screen protectors now so I just have to wipe away the annoying mark each time. Hoping all these problems will be fixed with a newer model 3DS.
Does every older model 3DS have issues with the bottom screen sliding around slightly? That really doesn't seem like the Nintendo Seal of Quality to me at all. The DS Lite I used to own never had any such issues.
My 3DS may have scratches on the screen, but that's it. That's my fault for not acting soon enough. As for the screen clicking, my DS Lite did that. The hinge broke on that because of my carelessness.
I'm going to stick with my 3DS until the next Nintendo handheld is unveiled. And I mean the NEXT one. Not the 3DS Lite or 3DS XL. The one that can play games I can't on my 3DS.
I own a PS1, GBA, GBA SP, Wii (GCN), 360, 3DS, PC (Laptop), Wii U, and PS4.
I used to own a GBC, PS2, and DS Lite
When did the system revision come around? I got mine last... November? Mine still get's the scratches so if mines the new model, it doesn't fix anything.
My SD Card with the game on it is just as physical as your cartridge with the game on it.
I love Nintendo, that's why I criticize them so harshly.

the right bumper on the topscreen is a bit to small so i get a little scratch at the right of my topscreen. but it can whipe it away easily when i open my 3DS.
the top screen is a tiny bit loose. it occured a few weeks/months after launch i think. maybe after my 3DS fall from 50cm height. still works fine and i dont have big problems with the hardware.
i dont have any money to buy a new 3DS.
can you transfer all the downloaded games to a new 3DS? i already transfered several dsiware games from my old dsi to the 3DS.
can you transfer the ambassador games? i definetly dont wanna loose them!!
My 3DS has been run over, dropped from various heights (I am quite clumsy) and sat on, on many occasions and I dont have any big issues with mine and it was a pre-order launch 3DS. Only issues I have with it are cosmetic issues with the slider and suchlike losing its colour and the edges of the system wearing away and minor chips in the out surface. But other than that nothing which I think is great seeing what it has been through... a bit like my black Gamecube when it was kicked down a block of flats stairs, it takes a kicking but keeps on ticking.

I can't wait for the Cobalt blue 3ds to be released out in the U.S. It would probably have the modifications mentioned on here. Then again, there will possibly be a remodel by then, so I guess I'll just have to wait and see. Who knows, maybe it will even be a launch color?
