The new save feature in Star Fox 64 3D, is it a permanent save? Meaning if I get a game over, will the progress be erased and take me back to first stage? Also, if I beat the game, will all the levels that I played through still be accessible the same way when you save in a Mario game and beat it?
nope, in the options, you have a button to erase save data.
amazing game by the way. i played it a lot on the n64, and with the new graphic designs and portability, its almost a new game.
Sorry, I'm a bit confused. You stated no which I assume that it's not a permanent save but you also stated that you can delete save data in options which I would think is a permanent save.

By "permanent save" I'm fairly sure we all thought you meant the "feature" idea that was going around where you couldn't play the game twice. There'd be one save file and once you finished you couldn't delete it. If you can delete it it's not "permanent" in that sense.
......... but I'm fairly sure you're actually simply asking if it saves your progress when you save. Why wouldn't it? :S
by permanent save, i thought you meant like resident evil save feature, where a save game is permanent to each cart and cannot be deleted, or clocked back to 0.
in starfox, you get like the old days; high score roosters. so when you finish a main game, it saves your score in a top 10 ranking, including the level patern you had in this game, the number of hits, etc. level are unlocked as you finish them for the time attack mode. you never lose track of your scores, level unlocked or medals, theyre all saved.
oh yeah, one more thing. there is 2 kind of play. the original starfox 64, with no continues. you die too many times, you start all over. hardcore way. there is also the 3ds mode, where its been re-balanced and features continues.
there is also medals for both kind of play to unlocked. twice the fun

There's also an expert mode, but I don't know how that's unlocked. Perhaps by getting all gold medals in both other modes?
If you add me, I need to at least know you or I won't add you back.

yeah, i didnt get it yet neither, but i saw it in the manual.
I don't think you can just reload from your last save point if you get a game over outside of the continues in the 3DS difficulty (you couldn't in the original version), but I don't have the game yet, so I could be wrong.
On subsequent replays of the campaign, I'm pretty sure you have to meet the correct requirements each time to be able to take the harder path each time, but you can go straight to any previously unlocked level from any playthrough in Score Attack Mode.
Ash: Professor Oak, how's your Bulbasaur?
Prof. Oak: Oh, it only hurts when I sit.
...
Prof. Oak: It's only Chansey if Krabby won't let go. Bye, now.
Ash: I don't think I'm going to call him anymore.
