im trying to download an update for Pokemon sun, but, I get a pop up that states "you may need to upgrade your current SD card to a compatible SDHC card or a microSDHC card with enough available space." now do i need to purchase a new card, or just delete something? thanks.

@extrananners This is a space issue (assuming the card you've already got works fine with existing files on your system).

It just uses that wording to be clear about the types of card you can use.

I dunno how big the Pokemon Sun update you're referring to is, but the main game is over 3 gigabytes apparently.

And apparently, one block is 128 kilobytes, or 1 megabit. So 8 blocks equals one megabyte. A 4,000 block game would be 500 megabytes.

So if you've got 14000 blocks free, that would be roughly 1.75gb of free space on the card. I'd be surprised if the update was that big.

Is this actually stopping you from continuing the download, or is it just advising you that you might need more space?

If you have a new 3ds, you need to find a micro SD card with more space (I believe the new 3ds comes with a 4gb one already) so, i think like, 16gb may be a bit overkill but, I'm not to sure. If you have an og 3ds/2ds, same thing. But with a regular SD card.

OK.
