It would be a remake of Mario Kart 64 with sixteen courses and four battle courses from the N64 game that looks and plays like Mario Kart 7. The four N64 courses from Mario Kart 7 would return exactly as they were in Mario Kart 7, but if you have the Mario Kart 7 cartridge in your 3DS or have it downloaded, that would would unlock the full cast of characters and kart parts that you have already unlocked in Mario Kart 7. Coins gained in Mario Kart 2 would be transferred over to Mario Kart 7.

This would be an eshop only game because it would be intentionally small and reuses content already in Mario Kart 7.

Would you download it? Or should it be a different Mario Kart game instead of Mario Kart 64? Mario Kart DS and beyond would not have the retro courses if you prefer one of those games instead.

Edgey, Gumshoe, Godot, Sissel, Larry, then Mia, Franziska, Maggie, Kay and Lynne.

I'm throwing my money at the screen but nothing happens!

I'd get it if it was on the Wii U, as DLC for MK8.

I will update this when Half Life 3 arrives. [Started 17/11/2015]

I agree, remakes of games like MK64 and Melee are pointless but having the content as DLC for the most recent game in the series is a much better concept.

Doesn't the 3DS deserve more Mario Kart content?

I've never heard someone refering Mario Kart 64 as Mario Kart 2.

er

Maybe, but I personally prefer MK on home consoles. Their just bigger, better, and more fun with everyone together on the couch.

^ This right there. As much as I liked MK7 once I got MK8 I never touched it again due to the couch Co op of MK8.

I wish MK7 had gotten some DLC. It got stale after a while.

Mario Kart on home consoles may be better but those of us without a home console deserve a chance too

We're already getting eight courses in the two DLC packs. I just think that the 3DS shouldn't be neglected. However, unlike the DLC in Mario Kart 8, Mario Kart 2 would be a stand-alone game that you don't need to own Mario Kart 7 to play, but you would unlock a bunch of features if you did.

Fine. Wii U then. Mario Kart 2 - all sixteen courses and four battle courses from Mario Kart 64 available in one eshop download separate to Mario Kart 8. But with unlockable characters and kart parts if you have a Mario Kart 8 save file.

It did if they didn't decide "hey maybe we can do DLC for this too" like 25,000 years too late. It's too old now and it's prime time has passed.

But Lol this board is weird, who calls it Mario Kart 2? Even if that is correct in a sense.

A "Mario Kart One" for 3DS would be good as well since the starting roster is the same as Super Mario Kart's.
