So I did one of those searches with no parameters on the eShop and there's ANOTHER Airport Hero coming to NA!!! Maybe someone else has a release date or something (there wasn't one on the shop), but I just thought I'd make the thread because I was excited.

I wonder if it'll have the All Nippon Airways license like it did in Japan...

Is anyone else planning on getting this when it releases?

Wait, is this like a flight simulator? Or what kind of game? And it takes place at Narita Airport? That's pretty cool.

It's a puzzle game disguised as a simulation game. It's pretty cool and relaxing (until it gets busy!)

You basically watch planes land and take off and tell them which runway to land/take off from. The puzzle part of the game comes when a lot of planes are taxiing through the airport or flying around. You have to make sure they don't collide with each other. It's game over when that happens. The only simulation in the game is the authentic chatter between the pilot and air control. The actual gameplay isn't a simulator in the slightest, but it's really unique and you'll love it if you like planes or have any interest in air control.

Does this new Narita game include the camera function? That gave me loads of replayability in Hawaii, but if Narita doesn't have it, then I'm not going to get it.

I have the Hawaii version. It's literally an air traffic controller simulator.

You have to tell the arriving planes where to land and give them a safe route to the parking zone, and at the same time you need to do the same but in reverse for the departing planes.

It can get very hectic.

Well it says the release date on Canadian Eshop. It says it's released tomorrow.

OK I went to the official Narita website. You can make QR codes to make unlimited stages. Awesome.

Thought this was spam for a second, then remembered that there's actually a game with this name. xD

I think the Hawaii version has the option of creating random levels from photos. Not sure if this one keeps that feature.

@Freelance: Tomorrow??? (Maybe I missed that because I literally screamed into my 3DS and closed it to post here when I saw it in the shop). And unlimited stages again? Ahhhhhh, I'm so excited!

@World Unless the Eshop is wrong, it's coming tomorrow. I used babelfish to translate text from the official website (http://www.sonicpowered.co.jp/bokukan/3ds/rjaa/) and it did mention QR codes, as shown below:

"With camera stage taking QR code "Narita with ANA", a random stage is made automatically! 17, even after clearing the scenario of α + skilled fun stage indefinitely, you can enjoy forever. Also, on this page of the official site of Narita with ANA limited QR stage exposes. Shooting a limited QR code and my stage tube development team has created new scenarios."

'Stage indefinitely' sure sounds like 'unlimited stages' to me, which is awesome. Sadly, I have to save a lot of money right now so I won't be able to get it for a loooong time, but that's okay. I mean, I have Hawaii so I can play that still.

@Freelance So you can take photos of QR codes to make stages this time. It can be any QR code, but it can't otherwise just be random stuff like in Airport Hero Hawaii. Another new feature is "Hero Coins," which are used to pay to save your camera stages and to "unlock hidden stages" (which I have yet to encounter). You get those through Streetpassing literally anyone (with the game or not), and by getting high scores.

Overall, this game plays like a sequel and not just a reskin/remap like I was expecting. There's an additional ATC radio channel for ramp, which makes the traffic flow a bit more easily. However, the runways seem a lot longer than the Honolulu ones and thus it takes more time to get planes to their gates/runways. There's also an additional option in the air to tell planes to either start braking for landing or detour--in case you gave a command that is no longer valid, due to mistakes or wind changes.

Also: CHECK POINTS! For every wind change, time warning, or point target hit, you get a check point!

Some of the assets, like music, are reused (this version lacks the All Nippon Airways license sadly) but overall the game plays like an improved version of Honolulu.

Anyway, I love it a lot. But I realllly loved the other one, so I'm seriously biased.

@World Wow the new additions to the game sound pretty cool. I also thought it'd be Hawaii but in Japan. Yay for unlimited stages, if you can find QR codes. ANY QR code works? I'm definitely going to get it, but I don't know when.

BTW, the official website has addtl stages for you to try:

http://www.sonicpowered.co.jp/bokukan/3ds/rjaa/

Go to the last tab at the top of the page. scroll down for the QR codes. It also gives you some info on it, like times, etc, although the rest are in Japanese.

@Freelance: It is ANY QR code! I tried it last night with a Denpa Men QR code. It gave me a stage with a Korean Air imitation plane ("Korean Airways"), so that was pretty cool! And wow, these QR stages look great! It's cute that they have backstories for them. It really gives the impression that they care about these games. And unless I'm not understanding the translation, some of the special QR stages are based on the actual traffic at Narita on the day listed!

Oh wow those new additions sound cool! I was going to wait for a sale since I have the first game but it sounds so cool next time I have 20 dollars in my account I will buy this. The first game is excellent BTW. They should lower the price on it so people can see how great this title really is. It's kind of a title which got lost in the Eshop. There is a demo too. Try it! You will get hooked on being an air traffic controller!

Still playing 3DS but will have Switch soon for multiplayer with friends. I miss you guys! Adam, Joni, Gavin and the rest of the Blue Rogues from the Phantasy Star Zero Days.

Oh I didn't know there was a demo. I might as well give it a try.. It's too bad it costs $25.11 + 13% tax though. It actually costs a few dollars more than Hawaii.

Ok I've played the demo (finished the first stage) and there's only 2 runways (Hawaii had at least 5), which is going to make the game harder, and it's probably why it gives you the ability to reduce speed and detour as there's a greater chance of planes getting uncomfortably near each other. The airport is landlocked so there's no seaplanes.

Odd, I got a penalty for 'excessive delays' for a plane that is already landing, despite the fact I never told it to do anything but land. Nothing I did caused it to be delayed.

@Freelance: The levels I've played so far (Stages 1 - 5, plus some QR levels) have four runways: 16R/L and 34R/L. It is definitely harder to make a landing plan, but the fact that there are two separate terminals means it's easier to taxi (so far, anyway). The stages are challenging, but they're very much challenging in a different way from Honolulu. That game would overwhelm with sheer number of planes, but this one seems to get difficult by forcing you to clog up individual terminals.

Technically it's still two runaways. You just can take off and land at both ends at each. Hawaii has 5 different runways so it's a lot easier to manage which planes take off and land, although with much more planes, there's a higher chance of collision while they're taxiing around.

So Narita is the opposite of Hawaii? Fewer runways but taxiing around is easier?

Guys I know it's a dumb question but can someone explain me what are the QR levels and how to download/install them. Just got the game and it's amazing, love the fact they included the A380 and the Dreamliner on this game.

@Freelance: I find taxing easier, anyway. It has two separate terminals, so you don't have that problem of the mass of runways all crossing each other in front of the one main terminal like in Honolulu. I barely have any planes going on that long stretch between terminals either.

@AirportHeroFan: Just go to the camera section and take pictures of QR codes! There are special ones that were linked to earlier in the thread, but you can take a picture of literally any QR code (just find a QR code generator if you want to try it out!).

@World Post lots of pics on Miiverse please! It looks like you're the only person here who bought it.

Never mind. it seems nobody can post screenshots at this time. People are stupid though. I saw this Miiverse post from someone saying nobody can post screens, and he got replies from people saying not being able to post screenshots is proof that the game is bad, and someone else thought it was bad merely because of the lengthy title. Honestly, people say the stupidest things when justifying 'bad' games.

Have you noticed the same guy reviewed this game and Japanese Rail Sim? Judging from his reviews, it doesn't look like he likes PC-simmish games much. Either that or he hasn't played any at all. It seems very counter-productive to review genres that you aren't interested in at all. He should stop reviewing these games.

On the flip side, my bday is coming up very soon and my sister may give me $25 if 'I'm nice.' I may use it towards this game (It's $25 plus tax) or, if she gives me actual cash, I may use it to save up for Smash. Sadly, Smash costs $50 here. Prices went up recently

I also got another ATC game on PC for my bday (thanks to an online friend) that's not as realistic as this game, but it's still fun and hard. Kinda funny if I get two ATC games for my birthday.
