@Meowpheel I agree with that. I also have the first game and man, while I like the farming, it's way too easy to do so and I've maxed everything out so quick. I never played the other 2 games, but I don't really see the point when I already have other HM games on the 3(DS).

Morph just pointed out a bunch of very important gameplay aspects that were present in both sequels only a few posts above yours. "The point" is staring your right in the face, wearing a bright red vest and dancing about with sparklers in hand. I don't know how much more obvious it has to be.

@Meowpheel I hope you don't mind bring up this old thread but I just recently picked up HM2 on the 3DS VC and I have a few questions and you seem to know your HM games.

Anyway I was wondering the food you buy from the restaurant how do you select it to eat? I see in your house there is a spot that tells you how much food you have, but I can't figure out how to select and eat it. Also does the cat do anything or is it just something just to have?

No worries.

The food is automatically eaten at certain times of the day.

The cat should bring you random seeds in the morning. Very rarely.

You can use the hot springs for that, just jump in a few times (the time you spend in them is irrelevant, just jump in and exit).

If you walk into the trees to the left of the spring, you'll appear right next to your farm house.

@Meowpheel Ah ok I thought that was a fishing pond lol. Good to know that. I haven't looked up any walk throughs so I don't see any spoilers so if I seem a bit noobish I apologize.

No worries, I love taking about these games.

The fishing pond is in your farm, next to your field.

The smaller pond can be used to "store" the fish you've caught. In case you want to keep a collection. I guess.

@Meowpheel Yeah, I believe if you have Legend of the River King you can trade fish back and forth between that game and Harvest Moon 2. So I think the pond is for that.

@Meowpheel Ok sorry to bug you again, but when selling things in the box, do you have to be on your farm to collect the money or can you be in town or the woods etc?

It doesn't matter, you always get the money. Being on your farm lets you know how much you made, though.

However, things put in the box after the shipper visits are wasted.

@Meowpheel Ok yeah I know after 5 it's wasted but I put some things in the box before 5 and was in town buying some seeds and never got the message so I thought I didn't get the money. Thanks again for all the help.

So I made it to summer but I don't know I think I must have messed up somewhere cause the animal store owner won't sell any animals to me. He keeps saying that I need to plant more grass but I have a half a field of it behind my chicken coop yet he still won't sell me a chicken. Plus my crop fields are.all messed up so I need to fix them.

I do however got the upgraded sickle, and hoe as well as the sprinkler. Still though I am having alot of fun with this game.

Hm that is odd.

Maybe try planting more grass? I know on the SNES game, for a chicken you need around six full bags worth of grass. Maybe it's the same here.

Also, has it started producing fodder? Maybe you need to have fodder in your silo first.

@Meowpheel I have been trying to cut the grass with the sickle but nothing. I guess it's not long enough. I have a few plants going to get me some money and in between harvests I fish or pick berries in the woods to get some money. Still I want to start with the animals now but I am just confused.

Then that's it, if nothing happens then it means it's not long enough to cut. Maybe when you get some fodder, it'll unlock the chickens.

I'd recommend filling the other grass fields too, when you get the money.

@Meowpheel Ah ok I thought you just need the field not some fodder as well ok yeah that makes sense now. And yeah I decided to do that as well with the rest of the pastures as well.
