I have no idea what's happening in this thread right now, and I'm not about to read through all this junk and try to figure it out.
From what I'm gathering: People are arguing about the inclusion of new features in the game. Personally I don't care if games have features that I find useless as long as they aren't required as part of the game. For example, Pokemon Amie was pointless to me so I didn't use it. I like a lot of additions Fates seems to have, especially being able to construct your own town/base. This is something that the series has been building towards for several games now, by the way.
My complaint is more with how the presentation has changed so much. Awakening didn't really have the feel of an FE title due it's presentation style, but I can't really figure out what exactly changed to make it feel that way.

Maybe because of the change in art style that came with Yusuke Kozaki as art director. Or, maybe because Hiroki Morishita composed most of the music instead of your usual Yuka Tsujiyoko. Also there were six writers on the team.
My two cents, probably cause I thought it felt more RPG than Strategy. That or the fandom just derailed (Not that any fandom is perfect).

I love Awakening as well, it's the game that properly got me into the series but notable absences for me were mission varieties and Fog of War. I'm generally not fond of the latter but it does get me thinking which can make for a fun chapter if said FoW level is fair.
Once a LuigiMan, now a Dreamy representation of the Goddess of Nature.

I am not really that bothered about there being 2 versions (and a third-one in the future). I'll just choose one version, and maybe download the second and third path later. However, it defeats the whole purpose of choosing a side. If they wanted to let you choose a side, they should have included all 3 paths in one package.
What DOES worry me a bit though is all that "crazy" Japanese Anime stuff I hear about. It all sound so strange, so typical of your average, cheap anime. Japanese people may lap this up, but to me it sounds strange. Definitely something that doesn't sound like Fire Emblem. I guess this wil be quite a decisive title, but hopefully with the good, solid gameplay from Awakening underneath it all!

If the anime stuff isn't your thing, it's quite easy to ignore it all.
But FE has been anime since the very beginning. In fact...
So Anakin kneels before Monster Mash and pledges his loyalty to the graveyard smash.
I know about the anime-series, but this is more of the Ecchi/Hentai variety from what I have heard. But if its all avoidable, then that's okay. As long as the gameplay is strong.

Not sure if you know, but hentai is porn. Fire Emblem Fates is not pornographic.
Yes, there is ecchi content. Some of the optional content is pretty raunchy, but all within the confines of a T/T-equivalent rating.

Type hentai into google images and then type in Fire Emblem Fates to see if it's the same thing.

I realize this is a joke, but in case someone doesn't know what hentai is: don't do this unless, you know, that sort of thing is your bag, baby. See my post above.
@Henmii: Yeah....that puzzles me a bit. Just how exactly you can choose paths if both games are separate to begin with? Does that mean that I can play characters from Conquest in Birthright itself?
I'm still torn on which version to get, so I kind of hope that the game comes west with everything rolled into one package. Awakening was my first FE game, and I've since picked up a used copy of Shadow Dragon (that's unfortunately still in my backlog).
I'm considering Birthright due to the easier quest (as it's said to be more like Awakening), the Far East theming/aesthetic, and a few of the classes. Conquest also intrigues me due to the fact that you're trying to better both kingdoms by being on the "bad" side, and I find the available classes on this side more preferable. The only thing off-putting for me here is the alleged difficulty.
So...any ideas/input, anyone? The only thing I refuse to do is use Phoenix Mode. Thanks!
Currently playing: Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana (Switch), Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Trials and Tribulations (Switch)

No. Each version has its own set of characters
The third path has all but 2 characters in it though.

Ok so to those who somehow got the japanese versions imported.......like how are the stories? Are they well written or something like....I won't say Awakening but like Sticker Star where it doesn't matter what you do because there isn't much of development? And please, no spoliers and if so, hide them.
