A crash on the DLC version?! I thought that was only possible through the carteidge. Tell us how you resolve it. @Smitherenez

@Grumblevolcano - I actually haven't completed that second playthrough yet; it's on the backlog. I'm using both though; Ewan is making for an OK Druid. Out of the Mozu (just recruited her, she's adorable <3) type characters of that game; nothing beats Ross. With a bit of training, he's just unbeatable.

Just beated revelation and I now want to say what I honestly fell about Fates overall.

Personally speaking, as someone who adores Awakening that got me not just into FE but in TRPG's in general, I gotta say that Conquest is the definitive TRPG game between the three games. Revelation is better than Birthright interms of gameplay and story but its still a mix bag and it doesn't have that variety that Conquest offers. And when it does have variety, its done in uninteresting ways and its more of Birthright than Conquest.

Conquest characters are more memorable than Birthright and this is what I feared before getting Birthright and I'm glad I got Conquest first. The characters don't really stand out and one unit you get in birthright makes the whole game a complete joke.

Granted, you can avoid using the unit to make it more fun, but seeing as how birthright's sword units aren't very powerful, might as well face the music that this is the only good one here. Birthright really doesn't provide any map variety nor does it offer any sense of challenge throughout the game.

The same goes for Revelation. At first, Revelation gets interesting with limited units and maps being unique but once the second half begins, the game slowly looses its meaning. Not to mention that the final boss in revelation is very stressful compared to Conquest.

Conquest maintains its purpose from start to finish and isn't kidding around when they said you are limited because you are limited. At first I thought this was scary since I have no idea as to how on earth I can even beat the game if I don't carefully raise my units, but that feeling is tactical and I get that point now as this is exactly how Fire Emblem is suppose to be.

But the three games regardless of my personal preferences are worth getting if only to experience the stories and to get some gameplay differences all together.

After so long...I'm back. Don't ask why

@Lzeon Noooooooooooooo way whosay! If one chapter on normal requires one and a half hours, I can't imagine how long it'll take on lunatic! and besides, I just burnt myself playing three tactical RPGs....so think about that for a moment.

But yeah....i might consider doing that when my retirement time shows up.

EDIT: So any news about how much Fates sold in UK? Needs to be a million so it can be 3 million!!!!!!! WHICH MEANS MORE FIRE EMBLEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@WinterWarm Hey yeah.....I kinda forgot how those guys have counter compared to berserkers.....instead that skill is given to birthright units.....dang. I think I'm right to say that I love Awakening now!

How are people finding the invasion challenges? I'm on the 2nd one and I have to keep restarting it as they take out too many of my people and building before I can defeat them all.

@jump - Honestly, I haven't bothered with them. I tried out the first one and it doesn't seem worth it. If all I get for defending my castle is extra experience at the risk of having my buildings destroyed, I can just do regular challenges for that.

I've just realised after getting fed up trying to defend all the building on the 4/5 repeated try that they came back straight after but depending on your game's setting (permadeath, phoenix etc) your units may not come back.

@jump - Oh OK. Might give them a go later. Thanks for the heads-up.

I just wish I knew sooner as I've spent at least 3 hours replaying the same one over and over again trying to defend the buildings when it's impossible when 8 of the baddies are at the bottom and I can only get 4 of my units down there before they destroy a good chunkof my buildings.

Man, this game is giving me a good challenge on hard mode, playing this game blind. Just finished the 2nd paralogue... There were so many reinforcements, it wasn't funny. Sadly lost my first unit there near the end of the mission, but didn't want to restart.

You don't lose much from having the buildings destroyed in an invasion/castle battle anyways, at most you don't receive the buffs the building would give if it were still up until the end of the battle.

I'm not lazy! ...I'm just very forgetful. :|

Is Mozu worth the hassle of levelling her up?

@The__Goomba

I think training Mozu is definitely worth it if you're willing to grind a bit. Thanks to her skill Aptitude (which is a skill only she and her child gets), she gets a whopping 10% added to all of her growth rate percentages, making her useful for pretty much any class (except for magic, but I'd have to double check on that). You can either class her into the Merchant or Sniper class trees and have her become an archer that I've heard rivals the likes of Takumi in strength, or you could use the Partner Seal or Friendship Seal to give her even more options (I.E.: Spear Fighter from Oboro, Knight from Effie, Cavalier from Silas, etc.). All in all, Mozu is a lot of hard work (I've only trained her in Birthright so far, I can only imagine the nightmare it's gonna be training her on Conquest), but if you stick to it and put in the time to train her up, she is, in my opinion, one of the most rewarding units in the game to train and use.

@Smitherenez The second Paralogue is super challanging indeed, it drove me crazy for 9 hours!
Althought in my case I think it was just a matter of unlocking it a bit too early, most of my characters simply weren't ready to face promoted units, if I'll dare to face this Paralogue again in the other paths I think I'll wait much longer before meeting the condition for unlock it XD

@The__Goomba Still have to finish at least a path, but despite the weak premise Mozu levels up pretty quickly and can fight properly after few levels (indeed the new pair-up battle system makes very easy to train her).
She isn't as OP as Donnel used to be if trained in Awakening, but she is definitely above average and her silly battle animations makes worthy in my opinion to at least keep her around for a bit until a unit you like more will show up (it's just so cute to see her trembling in fear while she decimate the opponent's army )

Sigh... I could make £60 (bought for £69.99, can sell for at least £120) flipping the special edition on eBay or Amazon. Regardless, I finally have time to try it out (it came in the post 5 minutes before I left the house on Friday) - I'm a Fire Emblem Awakening veteran, but I'll be going through the Birthright route initially before playing the Conquest and Revelations routes.
