So I'm in the final chapter in Conquest and I need some guidance....apparently, no one has made a complete guide to conquest yet except the Wiki page.
The thing I hate about the endgame is that you can't save or retreat. I have yet to play it since luckily, I'm on Casual mode...though I'm not so sure if I am capable enough to beat the boss.
@Socar:
Endgame of Birthright didn't let you save prior either. However, being in casual mode you should still be able to save mid battle, and up to 2 separate saves as well.

@Miss_Dark: From what I have listened in Conquest, its not that mindblowing compared to Awakening which is a bit disappointing cause for a game centered around Medieval period, you'd expect some epic songs....and yet only very few show up. Heck, even the main theme of Fire Emblem is completely absent here which is odd since Conquest is suppose to appeal to old gamers and you'd want to put good ole themes to satisfy them.
However, the games are solid and fun! So if that's you're priority, then get either one. I will warn you that if you get Conquest, play it on Casual mode first and then test yourself on classic. Late chapters will begin to get intense and longer. I haven't played Birthright, but I'm definitely getting it.
@Grumblevolcano: Yeah haha I'm hyped! Are you sure Amazon pre-orders went live as I checked 2 mins after you posted and it didn't look any different? If it did I just presume Amazon accidentally opened them early and closed them soon as!

@DoctorOverbuild: I must have been late with my post as I saw a tweet 7 mins after it was posted so maybe it sold out in less than 7 mins. I didn't check the link because I'm going for Nintendo UK Online Store if possible.
@Grumblevolcano: Was it Amazon that tweeted? And same, I'd preferably get it from Nintendo themselves as it also comes early!

For Garon, put your strongest units in the top spots while having some fliers available as back up. You do not have to rout the map, so you could just go after Garon. You need some heavy beaters because he has solid defense.
For Takumi, you need to use the Dragon Vein to get the rocks and put everyone behind them. Takumi will charge his attack, so you need to move everyone when he does. I suggest a more defensive strategy and hold out until all reinforcements stop. When they stop, put your fastest units and completely flank Takumi and take him out.

Wow, the Revelation version of that Conquest map in the is even more frustrating. I'm starting to think Nintendo was lying about Revelation's difficulty...
@Socar: Use the upgraded Yato on the bosses. It nullifies the dragonskin effects to some extent and you deal decent damage.
In the map before endgame, I actually set up my sturdiest wall paired with someone who would give it more defense and cornered in the pillar. (preferably a general with Wary fighter, or someone else with good speed and defense)
Since those lancers have magic and countermagic, I let them attack first so I would deal my damage in the retaliation. Once they were down in the kill percent of one hit, I would attack them.
Be careful, as you really need someone with over 40 defense. Those things have spendthrift which add +10 damage and they have 3 gold bars.
So I beaten Conquest and here's what I have to say.
If you know what to do....you will do just fine. Many are complaining that Conquest is damn hard and it is to an extent and it is to an extent depending on the chapter. Some chapters later on are long and while I can't say how the last two chapters are well balanced since you have to beat them both at a stretch, I can say that many of the chapters are huge.
But they are beatable and while I played Casual Mode, I often soft reset just so none of my units die when I use battle saves and if my saves aren't worth, I'd restart a chapter which only happened once. Its just a matter of how much time you can invest here which is the main problem and probably why many seem to claim that the game is hard. I don't know if I'll be able to try the game again on Classic since I can't spend like 5 hours for one map! It'd be crazy.....really.
I never found the limited resources frustrating since weapon durability is gone which does benefit for Conquest. I'm not sure about Birthright because I have to get that one.
I don't mind the complexity that each map has its just the wideness that bothered me a bit which is odd considering that its made on a handheld where you'd spend about half an hour or an hour at best.
I found the overall experience pretty solid though. Variety of tactics just like how I expected and a good challenge. I love some of the characters as usual as Camilla is my personal favorite of the bunch( I love both Tharja and Camilla, so sue me! :3)
The only thing that I didn't like about the game is its underwhelming soundtrack. Only a few stand out and its not anywhere as memorable as Awakening. The second problem I have is the story in Conquest.
The first half of the story really got me excited and I really was curious as to what might happen next....until the end just got bitter and let some plotholes and it was a bit of a disappointment in that regard.
Then the third problem I had is the amount of missions that had variety. Despite this having variety, Majority of them simply had rout the enemy and defeat commander.
There's only one chapter that had defend, one for defeating a certain amount of enemies, two chapters that gave you choices of how you want to beat the chapter, one chapter to beat bosses within a set amount of turns, one chapter to escape all units, and seven chapters that have seizes. The rest is just rout the enemy and beat the commander.
So yeah, not much of variety in that sense. However since each chapter is unique to its own, I won't complain too much but I'm just a bit disappointed in that. Oh well.
Dragon Veins aren't that many but they are really fun and unique when they do show up. I like how some of them change the form of tactics here and there.
And lastly, some classes are exclusive in each version. For example, you can't get Myrmidon in Conquest as it looks like you can only get one in Birthright. Its odd because seeing as how Conquest is suppose to cater to older fans, wouldn't leaving some classes exclusive dissatisfy them? If this is the major complain, I can understand since Conquest would need atleast one Myrmidon to make it balanced.
And that's just about it. Overall a solid game to have and while its obviously better than Awakening in terms of gameplay, to me, I still love Awakening simply because it has somethings that I absolutely adore. I have to get Birthright so I can see which one I like the best out of the two.
@Socar: Well, Birthright wont be any varied either. 95% of it is 'Rout the enemy'.
And yeah, the soundtrack was somewhat underwhelming, but I like more of the battle songs here than Awakening, but I like Awakening ambient music (like the menus, world map) more.
Though, IMO End of All > ID (Purpose) :v

@Gridatttack: I can understand for birthright since they said that from the beginning that it'll be just like Awakening. Its just that Conquest was suppose to promise more of the variety thing since it was promised for it and while you do get it to an extent, its just not enough for me.
But like I said, definitely not a bad game. Its pretty solid for what it is.
So how easy is beating Birthright in Classic? Both from beginning, middle and the end?
@Socar: Depends on the difficulty. On normal is pretty easy, even on classic.
As for classic mode, its hard to tell, since a small mistake might end you up losing an unit. I suggest you play it on hard if you want challenge. IDR in normal if the units moved adjacent on purpose in order to attack you twice.

The variety didn't necessarily come from the objectives, but how each map was set up.

@TingLz: Yeah I know that but from what many reviewers said, there was suppose to be a variety of objectives as well...I guess I shouldn't have expected too much.
Hmmm, so apparently, there will be a future DLC reward item which will give you the other "Takers".
I was messing around with the game and found that there are the other "Taker" skills corresponding to each stat and a scroll item which teaches said skill.
Also, based on the recent DLC map on japan, it seems the skill Point blank would be learn-able too. OP archers ensue.
Does anyone know how to increase the max stats a unit can have? I've seen a sword master in a castle with several stats above the standard amount. They were level 50 and had strength maxed out at 39, skill was at 41 but wasn't maxed out yet and speed was maxed out at 50.
The regular maxed out stats are 30 strength, 32 skill and 35 speed. (They were an avatar character by the way)
