Topic: Did the DS won the handheld console war?

While Apple may have more widespread appeal to non-gamers and budget-conscious gamers, I don't think Apple will kill off Nintendo in the handheld market.

Well you know what it did because nowadays the psp section of a game store is a barren wasteland with the people who pass by asking "do you even still play yours?" whereas the ds section you can find all sorts of people looking for there games

I don't think anyone is plaining to beat nintendo at handheld Gaming......unless the iPhone gets better Games

I don't think Apple games will get significantly better. While there are plenty of nice games on there, I don't think the next Legend of Zelda or Chrono Trigger will be seen on the App Store ... unless it's a port!

The next gen of handhelds will be interesting, that I can guarantee. I think its safe to say Nintendo has won all of handheld gens so far, but if apple continues to gain dev support from bigger names, and sony finally decides to get their act together, all I can say is, in the end we will all win since it's the games and experiences that matter and not the brand thats on them.

The charts were created to show the iPhone's growth in the gaming market, but it stands that the DS sells more than the iOS devices.

Sony should just drop al support for the PSP and let it die out. no one is going to buy a PSP after the 3DS comes out. NOONE!

Huey - I think what you're saying is true.

MetaKirby - I think while your chart shows that Nintendo did win, you also have to look at the other parts. The PSP market shrunk to half of what it was before, and the iPhone's share quadrupled IN ONE YEAR. I feel that Nintendo can't afford to be lazy this generation, which is why they're already pulling out all the stops for next generation before it even starts. I just hope that quality does beat out quantity in the long run.

And the iOS devices do have nice qualities and I do own them, maybe a couple of games, but I spend way more on my DS.

I think it is pretty obvious that Nintendo DS has won the handheld war. I'm very curious what the next PSP is gonna be like if they want to compete with Nintendo's latest piece of gaming delight. Apparently Nintendo is still unbeatable when it comes to handhelds.

ds is definitely better than the psp. the psp is a bunch of overated plastic and bolts.
