The vita launched today. I normally follow game sites somewhat religiously, but I missed this until late tonight because Nintendo crowded the news with a new game announcement, the scoop on Mario Tennis and Kid Icarus, and the release of Rolling Western.
It might be a bit underhanded, but I think it shows Nintendo considers the Vita a much more serious competitor than the PSP.
That's funny. There was sooo much news to read here on NintendoLife, and then I had a boat-load of Letter Box news from all my 3DS friends, that was about all I did last night. So I didn't hear anything buzz about the Vita. Good one!

I think it was ~partially~ a move by Nintendo to dissuade people interested in the PS Vita by showing them a bunch of of awesome games coming soon. It's not that far of a stretch; iirc, Sony announced the Vita on the 3DS's launch day.
But seriously, I didn't hear any buzz about it last night when I was roaming the Internet.
There was this Taco Bell ad I saw a week ago where there was Sack Boy and he was eating some tacos and stuff. And it said something along the lines of "Everyone wants a Taco Bell $5 box... because everyone wants a PlayStation Vita" and that made me fall down on the floor laughing because in Japan, nobody wants a PlayStation Vita.
I knew, it's only because I want one. I didn't hear anything about it from anyone or anywhere at all lately. I don't think Nintendo has anything to worry about, though. And even though I want a Vita, I'm sure if I had one I'd still be playing my 3DS the most.
I knew it was launching yesterday and its probably the reason Nintendo chose to have Nintendo direct yesterday to take away as much focus away from the Vita as possible.

Ha. I remember when Taco Bell promoted the 64. Now that was pretty cool. I really just don't care for Sony. Never have. For one I feel like they try to do Nintendo dirty from time to time.

Well, at least in Spain all newspapers (on paper and online) and tech magazines have been releasing Vita news, videos, game lists since two weeks ago. All the main selling points (GAME included) have Vita as the new star. Here the launch seems to be well covered.
The Vita launch was yesterday- but who cares? I'm know I'm not getting one, and the fact that we Nintendo fans get more amazing games because of its launch is even better!

Nobody where I live knows what a Vita is. Seriously.
I have a Sony fanboy living in my neighborhood. Other than him same here.
Of course, to be fair - not many know about a 3DS either. I've had my 3DS since June last year and (trust me- not kidding here) I have it ON all hours I'm awake and carry it w/ me everywhere.....only gotten 6 Street Passes. D:
Ok, let me rephrase that, worst CURRENT console. There were definetly a few that were really bad, but vita is still very bad.
