Really? It would make most sense to port PSP games to 3DS but it's not happening, we can see that already. There's two multiplatform PSP/3DS games and, no offense to Blazblue, both are low budget extremely Japanese games.

There's more Wii ports!

While I still doubt it'll happen, I don't see anyone complaining and as a PSP owner, I don't see a reason to care. Sounds like a win if it did happen.

I forgot Continuum Shift II was Multiplatform. That means I can actually get it! What's the other one?

I don't think there will be many ports of PSP games at all, actually. The PSP games that sell well are either published by Sony (and therefore no-gos for Nintendo consoles) or the kinds of games that don't sell well to Nintendo's new demographic (ie the ones buying virtual puppies). Disgaea wasn't exactly a wildfire hit on the DS. The DS had one Warriors game, the PSP has six. The PSP has a bunch of Monster Hunter games, the DS has none. There's reasons for that (though that last one probably has more to do with hardware constraints than demographics).

Yes, I know they would sell to the people in this thread, but I don't think a publisher is going to take many risks in porting a game (and it's a major job to port a game from PSP to 3DS) to an audience of (counts posts in this thread)... 43.

Also, bear in mind this - the PSP is a download-friendly console. A big part of PSP sales are in downloads. The reason Square Enix (for instance) supports the PSP so strongly is it doesn't have to produce as many retail copies of a game - Tactics Ogre might be a 50/50 split between retail and digital download, and that is much better from its perspective than 100/ 0. Digital Downloads are more profitable and less risky for publishers than retail releases.

3DSWare will not be able to host a game like Tactics Ogre.

Looking on metacritic to see what PSP games I'd want to see on the 3DS I can't see that much. The ones higher on that list are either never going to be ported to the 3DS, like Little Big Planet, are already comming to the 3DS in some form, Ridge Racer, or were multi-platform already, GTA. I don't see why there wouldn't be some PSP ports but... I really can't see "a lot" flooding the 3DS lineup.

I think we have more reason to be excited about N64 enhanced remakes and Gamecube/Wii ports.

The other one is a dungeon crawler with monster girls or something, I can't remember the name so gimme a minute to look.

EDIT: Here it is:

I'd love for Unchain Blades Rexx to come over seas. From what I gather it's a first-person dungeon crawler, and I'm still hoping to find one of those that is actually beatable by an ordinary mortal. Maybe Atlus will pick it up if the original publisher isn't going international with it.

I guarantee all the ex-DS owners who weren't interested in PSP/its games are gonna magically like them once they're on a Nintendo console. Personally I wouldn't be surprised if this happened, as the Wii spent its first couple years as a dumpster for PS2 games with Waggle. I'd take some PSP ports over the unbelievably lackluster launch title list...I'm still undecided on whether I should cancel my preorder/wait til gen 2 to consider 3DS, given that Nintendo's turned into Apple with their 12 product updates per year. Not to mention the first year of DS ownership might as well not have happened--short of Kirby's Canvas Curse and Castlevania, it was a complete waste.

EDIT - @Adam - Etrian Odyssey games really aren't too bad in terms of a first-person dungeon crawl....The old SNES game Arcana is also one of the more accessible ones, barring the Ice Caverns (fighting with one character for like half the dungeon is kinda brutal). Both games (much more Etrian Odyssey than Arcana) have map systems, making them infinitely more playable than the Phantasy Star/Shining in the Darkness-style no-map insta-lost fest.

I've played the first two Etrian Odysseys, and I've got to disagree, though I quite liked the style. They were brutal and unforgiving. After many tries on each, I wasn't able to make any significant progress. I guess I could have looked up strategies and advice, but I wanted to be able to do it on my own. I have EO3 waiting to be played on my 3DS in hopes of it being at least somewhat easier.

The only other first-person dungeon crawler I've played is Dark Spire, which... I won't even go there. I will have to try Class of Heroes if I ever get a PSP (or, as this thread for some reason predicts, we see a PSP-to-3DS port) and look into Arcana though since it's so cheap on Ebay, thanks.

I assume you mean you'd like to see PS3 ports? If they've announced a 3DS port of 3D Dot Game Heroes and didn't tell me, I am going to have to have a word with the publisher.

@Adam EO3 is easier and much more playable than 1 and 2. At least, it is for the first few strata. The difficulty curve is way more manageable this time.

FF games should have stayed on Sony consoles too! Oh wait.

We may have lost Final Fantasy, but that doesn't mean we have to give up Parasite Eve too! D:

Funny thing about that though...Nintendo lost FF at one point and it just came back later on. Doesn't mean that Parasite Eve wouldn't come back after going to another system.

Of course I don't have any proof of this but given some of the announced games to release in the future it just makes sense. Sega is already going to release a port of a PSP title, Crush, now called "Crush 3D". Thats already a sign of things to come.

I'm really hoping that Square-enix ports a lot of their PSP games. Their games are some of the best for the PSP; Final Fantasy Crisis Core, Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep, Dissidia, etc. The new Parasite Eve: Third Birthday would be a good port for 3DS since its a recent title from Square-enix.

Wow, if thats the case. Yay, wouldn't have to miss out on Dissidia or KH: Birth by Sleep.

Thanks, Holy Mackerel, that's just what I wanted to hear! As long as I can make some decent progress before dying, I'll be satisfied. It was just frustrating in the first two when I'd rarely get past the first floor.

And thanks, Oregano! I actually remember reading about that now. Hard to forget the odd "3D X 3D" subtitle, whatever that means. I hope the 3DS version is planned for US, too. I don't know how well the PSP version did over here.

I don't really think we'll get alot of PSP ports, there will probably be more GC and PS2 ports. I would love to see Mega Man Powered Up get a second chance though.

A lot of you guys are talking about exclusive Sony developed PSP titles you wish to be ported to the 3DS. I started this thread for 3rd Party games from PSP to be ported, not Sony made ones! Maybe I should have been more specific, however it should be common sense. XD

Earlier, I talked about how Square-enix has some of the best exclusive PSP games around. Capcom also, has some good titles that were never released on any other platform.

I'll list what "I" think is some good PSP exclusives that should be ported:
-Final Fantasy Crisis Core
-Final Fantasy Dissidia
-Castlevania Rondo of Blood w/ the newer version of Symphony of the Night!
-Dead Head Fred; This game was a bit repetitive but rather hillarious and fun!
-Parasite Eve 3rd Birthday
-Square-enix published a new Tactics Orge Title that looks really cool
-Valkyrie Profile Lenneth
-Mega man Maverick Hunter X
-Powerstone collection
-Crazy Taxi Fare wars
-Half-minute hero
-Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker
-Hammerin' Hero
-Downstream Panic!
-Valkryia Chronicles II (Yes, I know the first game was on PS3)
-Sega's newer Yakuza Game for PSP (yes, again, I know all the other Yakuzas are on Sony's systems)
-Gurumin A Monstrous Adventure
-Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep
-Megaman Powered Up
-Steambot Chronicles Battle Tournament
-All three of the Ys games; The Ark of Napishtim, The Oath in Felghana, Seven

Like I said earlier, there is a few games I know to be ported from not just the PSP but from PS2. Sega's once PSP exclusive Crush, is now being ported to 3DS under the name, Crush 3D. Namco's Tales of the Abyss from PS2 is also being ported to 3DS (the release date was just announce for May in Japan, I hope it comes to other Countries). Atlus is also porting some Persona titles and the original DS game, Devil Survivor, along with Strange Journey is also coming.
