Never played any of the Persona games, but will keep my wallet close to me just in case.

Meh buying Persona 5 on PS3 which i'm totally hyped for also i'm not fan of handhelds.

Looking forward to this so much. It's about time Nintendo consoles got some Persona-love. Now if only my dream of Persona 5 being on Wii U would happen. Wii U needs the sales way more than PS3 does.

I've never played a persona game before. Unfortunately I'm a much of a fan of Etrian Odyssey but I won't rule it out!

1. Because this forum is about Persona which i'm a big fan of the series since PS1.
2. Just because I have my opinion about handhelds and this game is for that platform doesn't mean this whole topic is going to be just about handhelds it's about Persona coming to "Nintendo Systems and their first step out of PS platforms" LOL which never going to happen in a million years for the Wii U.

I know more about the series more than your whole community combined so just giving my opinion that I rather buy Persona 5 on my system because this is the only Persona thread talking about the series at least.

To be fair Arena was on Xbox so its not really first Persona outside Playstation, rather first persona not on Playstation

I have my doubts about the game.... I understand its really not a Persona game but Etrian Oddissey with Persona Characters, so it won't have social links and that kind of things which are the coolest part of persona... However, I also understand the Persona team is writing the story so who knows...... I'll have to wait for reviews on this one.... would probably buy it if there's at least substantial story and is not only first person dungeon crawling all game long

Arena didn't count as much as Persona Q doesn't count as canon to the series. ATLUS are testing the waters with the series by putting them on other platforms that isn't PS and 360 failed with that test which is why the new Persona 4 Arena: The Ultimax Ultra Suplex Hold isn't coming to the platform.

But to be fair I agree with your final topic about this Persona which in my opinion will be ignored by most of the real fans because of the fact it isn't Persona 5 and i'm one of them sadly. I don't see anything bad about this game but like I said in my 2 posts I'm no fan of handhelds and also I dislike the chibi look of the characters aka Kanji (P4) and my boy Junpei (P3) that just drives me insane so I hope this community enjoy their "first" persona title.

I fear I may have unrealistic expectations for this game. I tried playing Persona 3 FEZ for the first Time and really didn't care for A) the social link dating sim aspects, and B) the really uninspired dungeons. Also, C) the restrictive limit on how long you could dungeon crawl.

Alternatively I sunk 20 hours into Etrian Odyssey IV and never got out of the first major dungeon because I got sick of retracing my steps to get back to the boss for another attempt.

So... Really hoping I don't hate Persona Q. I want it to be an enjoyable experience. But... I might be fooling myself with my irrational Atlus love.

@Jim_Purcell To be perfectly honest...that sounds exactly like you will hate Persona Q :/ Its basicly a mashup between the Persona series and etrian odyssey. So if both of them were based on mechanics you really didnt like, i would skip it.
Save yourself the frustration.
My advice: Its a popular franchise brand, it will most definitly be played by some youtube bloke. Go watch a playthrough of it and get a feel of how much of Persona Q is based around these mechanics n the long run.
If they are the main focus = you saved yourself the money, if they are not = get the game and have fun without regretting the purchase

To be fair, I didn't hate EO's gameplay. Just the constant backtracking that artificially elongated the play time

I'll wait for a price drop. $60 is too much for a 3DS game...

There's a $40 standard edition.

Slightly disappointed I won't be getting the OST though. Don't care about the other stuff.

EDIT: Waaaaait a second. The standard barebones version is $50?! WTF is that? Premium Edition is $80. WELP. I guess I probably won't get this at launch. That's WEIRD.

Except that it is going to be canon... I'm 90% sure of that. Heck, I even heard Persona 4: Dancing All Night was to be considered canon. Dancing All Night, guys.

Yep, it's the second Atlus game and only the second in the states to my knowledge that has been priced that even for the basic. What made SMT IV more bearable was the 30$ eshop credit for owning Fire Emblem. I don't see that happening again here though.

Even so I'm sure it will be a good game but I almost want to send a message about these prices all of a sudden from them and wait for the price to come down. I have been day one for every Atlus game released on the 3ds except CoP and I'm not sure I'm on board for this day one either. The thing is as much as I want to play it (and I really want it as much as any other Atlus game) I've got so much to play and I believe I don't need this day one. Now if it get excellent reviews my views may change but for now I think I might lean towards Fantasy Life!

SMT IV was $50 and came with a soundtrack, collector's box, and starter strategy guide. Not the best value IMO, but at least it wasn't barebones!
