Personally, if my shoulder buttons weren't so jacked on my DSi, I would prefer it to my 3DS for general gaming. To start, longer battery life. Second, it allows me to play DS games as they're meant to be played with none of the display alterations they experience on the 3DS. Third, it doesn't make me a little compulsive towards doing longer sessions, unlike the average play time records the 3DS keeps within its Activity Log. Using two alarms in the morning to ensure I get up at 3:30am for work, I can appreciate that the DSi still includes an alarm as well.
The DSi console itself is nice, but in terms of features, the 3DS easily wins. The DSi can't play GBA games and I found the Dsiware to be rather underwhelming.

This sums it up pretty well; still regret "upgrading" only to lose the GBA slot.
Still the machine itself is quite nice, resilient and clean looking.
