I guess I'm the conservative type, as I'm also "shocked" by the changes. I hate change when the old ways were so good and happy.
But let me give it to you guys, it makes total sense for this to happen, and in the end, it does make everything easier and better.
Give me a few days, and I should be fine too.

Actually I think it's just a matter of preference.

Simon's Quest was the first Castlevania game I played when I was a kid, and I liked it a lot.

When I found out about Castlevania 3, I tried it and didn't like it.

Even when I grew up and got emulators, I still preferred it over the 1st and the 3rd games.

To me, it's like Super Metroid, except with vampires and whips.

Although I think I understand why other people hate it, since the pace is a bit slower, and there's some considerable back and forth tasks, trying to find the next item.

@ice: when fighting "great tiger", be ready to dodge right after the gem on his turban flashes. also, if you can block (not dodge) his rotating magic punches 5 consecutive times, he'll get dizzy and you can knock him out in 1 uppercut. (rinse and repeat.)

@Dan H: Actually, I grew up playing NTSC Famicom/Super FC games (as I was born in the PH). So I'm used to the NTSC Punch-Out. I'm now living in Europe (working here in DE). So now I'm dealing with a PAL Wii.

In any case, if other PAL users are happy with it too, I think I can get used to the speed (if it is different).

@demon212: I can't really fault you if this is your first time to play Punch-out.

The fun of punch-out comes from figuring out what are the strengths and weaknesses of each opponent and coming up with an appropriate counter-measure.

Just pressing A, B, & Start, and throwing jabs/uppercuts without any strategy, without thinking, and yet winning is of course lame. That's why the first 2-4 opponents are worthless (but of course what do you expect from fighting bottom feeders?).

Try to persevere until the higher-ladder opponents and then check out if it's still lame.
