A very pedantic point, but has anyone else noticed that there is no part of the game that has anything to do with "a link to the past"? a link to the dark world maybe, but the game is firmly set in the present tense throughout.

still, top game.

I just completed this game yesterday, it was utterly satifying. Just getting past the point i got to as a kid was enough but to see where the ideas that made later games came from was a real joy for a zelda fanatic like myself.

I loved the dark woods dungeon, such a great idea to have portions of the dungeon only accessable from hidden entrences/holes in the ground out side the temple its self- makes me wonder why this was one of the few ideas that never got carried through to the later games.

Also, i loved the fact that there were things you could totally miss and still get through the game, im still trying to find the bombos medalion and the golden bee. Makes the game so morish and expansive. Top stuff well recomended.

I have to say, i wasnt going to get this one. My GF was giving me greif about how long it was taking to get my Wii conected to the wifi for the first time and how bored she was- not to mention the guilt trip for getting yet more games.

once i downloaded this though, it all turned 180, she was on at me all weekend to be playing sonic. Infact, she wanted to stay up playing sonic rather than get an "early" night.

amazing- if i had turned down her advances so i could play zelda etc i would have been hung drawn and quartered- in vinegar probably!

The power of the VC- even turns your GF into a gamer!

and its a bloody top game!

-K- no, i was talking about link to the past, i know that you used the ocarina to transport around in OOT, but this idea came from LTTP- infact on the VC operations guide it says that the item --> ocarina can be played in a certain place to transport around the world.

I just got this game afew days ago and it all came flooding back, harder than i remembered but so much fun, its wonderful to see ideas and details that made it in to later games - not to mention the fantastic music!

This was one of my favorites as a kid, i especially remember the music, the tunes were really catchy and atmospheric.

however, the graphics dont seem to have aged well and compaired to need for speed carbon and numerous other racing games since, im not sure whether its worth my while getting this one.

what do people think - still fun or had its day?

This game was pretty cool, but it didnt really do it for me, i compleated it pretty quick and i always got really frustrated that the other characters flew along side you but never did anything usufull, infact, they always seemed to get attacked and you would have to save them.

however, i did love all the secret routes, like having to go under all the arches of shoot certain asteroids to open new levels.

i seem to remember there being two endings depending on if you took the route to the real or fake boss.

i think ill put this in my maybe pile.

I loved this game on the snes, and i had an emulator on my laptop 5 years back and played it then for a while, I just found out that you could use the ocarina to warp to places by doing something at the weather vein in the village-

all these year and i never knew, i just ran around the place- no wonder it took so long-

any one know if nintendo are planning on releasing game boy games (namely zelda) on the VC?

This was and still is an outstanding game, but for me, majoras mask was much better. OOT pulled zelda up into a new dimension and set a new standard (as nintendo tend to do) in rpg but MM was a much more expansive game and ultimatly enjoyable game.

The thing i didnt like about OOT is that after a few dungeons it seemed like the same game repated 8 times time till ganons tower.- get new item, use new item, go to next castle.

MM had so many subplots and side stories and mini games, it was almost imposible to do them all. It also had the being in the right place at the right time thing down to a T, plus you get to be a deku a goron and a zora!!!

One last thing, i read in n - revolution magazine that originally MM was supposed to be after gannons tower in OOT - imagine that- you finally defeat ganon after 40 - 50 hours of game play, follow the skull kid into the woods then BLAM - your a deku and get to go into MM!!! that would have been amazing!

top tip btw - UK residents- if you buy anything in the shop "GAME" at the moment- wii points are 8 quid - sweet.
