Splatoon 3 is looking to close out Nintendo's summer offerings with a paint-splattering bang, and Nintendo UK has shown off another stage coming to the third paint-blasting multiplayer game.
Called the 'Mincemeat Metalworks' (yep, reread it), we hope the stage isn't as brutal and gory as it sounds! Luckily it isn't dealing in squids or meat of any kind, but it used to be a Metalworks that created more scrap metal. It seems like the new stages in Splatoon 3 are following a bit of a pattern, with the last one — Undertow Spillway — also being a little bit grey and metallic.
Mincemeat Metalworks, however, is out in the open, but it's rusted, and left out in the middle of an evaporated ocean and surrounded by a wasteland. Things have gotten a bit rough in the Splatoon world, haven't they? Good thing we can brighten it up even more with a splash of colour.
Amusingly, some fans have — at a quick glance — misread the title as Minecraft Metalworks on Twitter. Now that is a crossover we'd love to see!
Splatoon 3 launches on 9th September on Switch. How do you think the upcoming game is shaping up? Let us know in the comments!

Inklings canonically eat Salmonids, which are known to be sapient.
I love the new setting 3 is taking!
I really enjoy the "chaos" setting for this game. The maps are leaning into it heavily
So uncivilized.
Another great instance of 3 taking advantage of it's theming (something you wouldn't thought given the last few actual trailers we've had). That name feels like something out of a horror game but it works really well as a 'chaotic' locale for this new game, massive fan.
It does raise a bit of a concerning question though: how does the Splatoon world know about mincemeat to the point where they name a location that grinds stuff up after it? Oh no.....
Splatoon once again riffing off the self-inflicted demise of civilisation.
Don't they know I can't swim in ink across grates/catwalks?!?!😠
(😉)
It looks great. I'm into it!
Looks superb and I love the name.
I hope Splatoon 3's maps have more identity than S2's. I always felt the sequel's maps were fairly similar, with not much to make them stand out from each other, unlike the original's maps.
I never found any of the maps in Splatoon 2 the least bit memorable. Maybe because they all ended up splattered in paint?
More NEW maps, yes! Let's GO!
I’d love it if they added bot support to splatoon 3 , I know I’m probably in the minority lol
@Ventus I'm with you on this! Only wanted to replay the Splatfest levels with my daughter via private play but we don't have 6 other people to start a private lobby. Its nearly impossible to do a private lobby in Splatoon 2. Maybe just make it so that 2 players are the minimum then you can add bots or something.
Loving the new maps, so far.
this is cool but I don't like the drip of announcements for 3. The game is coming out in a few months, just blow off the lid in a splatoon direct or something.
This map looks pretty fun with the Wirebug mechanic
I hope there are some maps that don't look as brown as all the ones they've shown so far
Nice. I was underwhelmed at first w the new maps, but now starting to see some connective tissue. I like how every new map so far has a sense of place in this new setting; they all fit thematically
I really want to be able to pickup weapons again in a fps, including Splatoon. I'm sooo tired of loadouts. It's lame, boring, and overated.
@Fizza Canonically, inklings eat fish and marine animals from the sea. Just because some marine animals evolved into separate species doesn't mean that their ancestor species doesn't exist anymore. Technically speaking, fish is meat and fish can be minced.
It's going to feel wild learning new stages in Splatoon again. It's been 4+ years since the ones in Splatoon 2 were new.
@Travisemo007 I want to play in 1st person, didn’t like that splat 2 was 3rd person. Agree about the load outs too
I really hope that we get a splatoon specific direct at some point. While I’m liking what I’m seeing so far, I’m still missing what truly sets it apart from 2.
Splatoon 3 looks better and better.
