We hope you've been saving your pennies, because Nintendo has just lifted the lid on a whole new wave of Super Mario LEGO expansions. Strap yourselves in.
Shared today on social media, the following video gives you a look at new packs starring some Mushroom Kingdom fan-favourites, including the likes of Yoshi, King Boo, Thwomp, Bowser and more. Additional character packs will "enhance your experience":
In addition to the Piranha Plant Power Slide Expansion Set and Bowser’s Castle Boss Battle Expansion Set announced in April, the Expansion Set line-up includes: the Guarded Fortress Expansion Set, the Mario’s House & Yoshi Expansion Set, the Toad’s Treasure Hunt Expansion Set, the Desert Pokey Expansion Set, the Whomp’s Lava Trouble Expansion Set and the Boomer Bill Barrage Expansion Set.
Nintendo also recently revealed several LEGO Mario 'Power-Up' sets, planned to arrive alongside the previously revealed LEGO Mario sets on 1st August this year. We were also treated to a closer look at the Monty Mole & Super Mushroom Expansion Set back in April.
That's not all though, as Nintendo has also revealed a list of enemies that'll be available in blind bag character packs:
Also announced today are ten collectible enemy characters that are available in blind bag Character Packs, adding that extra level of excitement. Each pack will contain a buildable character and action tag to play with – it could be a Paragoomba, Fuzzy, Spiny, Buzzy Beetle, Bullet Bill, Bob-omb, Eep Cheep, Blooper, Urchin or Peepa!

These look very nice and I can see the kids loving it.
It would be good to have other characters with their own sets and making it in a way to combine all of them to create a 'kingdom' with all the areas from the games.
Read "expensive" instead of "expansion". But was I wrong ?
Would they increase their customer base even further if these were also amiibo? Seems like a missed opportunity.
@tourjeff If the parents do get one or two sets, I hope the kids won't get super hyped and beg for all the expansion sets ( which costs around 600 bucks). If that happens, poor poor parents with Super Mario LEGO's all around on the floor.

@Dark_Magician I honestly didn't check the prices for these Mario sets but the normal ones are not expensive.
By the looks of it, the contents for each would be considered a small set and it costs between 10 and 30 pounds based on small Star Wars sets I've checked on Amazon.
Edit: wow, just saw the prices on a different article. Yep, that would break the bank.

This is still not great in my opinion, very big missed opportunity for Lego minifigure blind bags instead of some brick builds...

Ah, blind bags. The "lootboxes" of physical items. I wasn't all that interested in LEGO Mario to begin with, but this makes me even less interested.

They know the average video gamers age is like 30, right?!
And LEGO knows that adults but their regular LEGO sets with no concern... but this Duplo looking stuff is 🤮.

Im still confused. Do you play as a game with it (meaning, you can lose, win etc, by chance or ability) or you play as a toy (you just pretend to be im a game). Does it involve dices or something? I still dont get it!
I hope people enjoy it but it still seems like something that will be played with once or twice and forgotten. If they added an actual board game element to it with challenges of skill (The tilting piranha plant one seemed like the only thing close) it might be interested — after all video game players like challenges of skill.
