If you're trying to improve your fitness in the new year, perhaps Fitness Boxing for the Switch might be worth checking out. It may not offer quite the same level of variety as the Wii Fit series, but it can at least provide you with an intense physical workout.
If you have been on the fence about this Imagineer-developed title, Nintendo has now uploaded a brand new overview of the game. Running for a total of 2 minutes and 30 seconds, the clip provides a brief rundown of all the options and workout features within the game. If you do decide to get fit, you'll learn how to master the jab, uppercut, hook and plenty of other moves as you time them to the beat of more than 20 different songs, including the likes of Lady Gaga, LMFAO, and Avril Lavigne (full tracklisting here). In addition to this, you can customise your trainers and workout or compete against a friend.
If you want to work towards a fitness goal in 2019, Fitness Boxing is out in Europe and is now also available in North America. If you're still not sure if this is the right game for you, you can always consider downloading the free demo from the Nintendo eShop.
Have you played this game yet? Did the overview trailer grab your attention? Tell us in the comments.

I fail to be motivated by this playlist of the 2000's most boring and overplayed hits.
Well if anything could get me to actually exercise more it'd be my switch I suppose. XD
I liked the demo and I do like to exercise. This might be good to have for the Switch.
I just played the demo and I'm loving it. It's getting put on the list.
My shoulders are sore from the demo alone - good sign. I’ve put this top of my list to purchase once I clear some backlog.
New Year!! YOU ARE FAT!! Buy a computer game/diet book/cook book/pills [delete as appropriate] to make you thin!!
I hate this way of selling, yes, yes, I know it works for some people, but come on.
Nintendolife is really pushing this game, isn't it.
And they gave it an eyebrow-raising 8/10...
Hmmm.
I don't like excersizing. can we get medabots for nintendo switch please?
@gcunit you maybe should give it a go first. It's actually very good at what it sets out to do. I've done 2 forty minute workouts per day for the past 4 days, and I'm actually aching all over.
For those unsure, try the demo, then make judgement. The full game gets suprisingly intense in the workouts.
@Wraggadam1 I've tried the demo, thanks muchly.
@gcunit fair enough. But still, no reason why this shouldn't be an 8/10. It does what it sets out to do very well. There is nothing eyebrow raising about it.
Just tried the demo and can safely say I will be making a purchase off the back of it. Hoping to lose a stone and firm up a little before my holiday in June.
Along with helping the wife eat slimming world meals I'm hoping this will help us both
@Wraggadam1 These were my issues with the demo:
Usually I try to ignore price when assessing a game, but the fact that the price is something like £40 takes the cake. £5-7 and I'd consider it.
But I'm glad you like it and hope you get much satisfaction from it.
Before I sign off, can I interest you in a cardboard box. It's a box, and it's made of cardboard. It does what it sets out to do perfectly, I'd rate it 10/10,and you can have it for just £19.99
@gcunit in the full game you can skip all of the explanations, whenever there is a new action in a track, you can choose to listen or skip it.
Music being intrumental does seem like a negative, though once playing it makes sense, as it really is just there to play in background to keep rhythm (some tracks I've played are 9-10 minutes long, which would mean looping tracks if they used originals).
I agree 39.99 is maybe a little pricey, but a comparison to fitness classes or a gym membership and it makes sense. Though for the developers sake I wish they'd priced it at 29.99 to avoid some of the price criticism.
Some variety (i.e. arcade style minigames) would have been fun, but again, that would be like going to a fitness boxing class and complaining they don't have a punching machine etc.
The cardboard box analogy is redundant. It's comparing apples to oranges. And to be honest, all games are too expensive and criticised for lack of variety if you chose to. Platformers you just jump and collect, racing games you just drive around a track, fighting games you just hit each other etc.
@gcunit Its easily worth that score.
@Beatley82 You've convinced me. Thanks.
@gcunit haha, snarky.
