Publisher The Arcade Crew and developer Hibernian Workshop have announced that Dark Devotion is headed to Nintendo Switch in "Q1 2019".
The game is a sidescrolling action RPG which depicts a society’s commitment to a macabre religion. The new gameplay clip above shows off a few of the pivotal battles awaiting those brave enough to prove their faith in the game’s unforgiving temple, all demanding quick reflexes, keen intuition, and a good deal of determination.
Here's a little more info taken directly from the game's press release:
"The game’s atmospheric world draws inspiration from French gothic architecture and the works of H.P. Lovecraft and Edgar Allan Poe, informing its labyrinth of foreboding chambers with a distinct sense of dread and danger. Meticulously crafted pixel art brings every encountered horror to life, lending a sense of beauty to Dark Devotion’s grim world despite it being plagued with suffering."
We're still awaiting any more specific information on the game, such as a precise release date and pricing info, but make sure to let us know your initial impressions on this one in the comments below.

Oh dang. That's my kinda game. But, please tell me those were all boss/mini-boss battles, and that the entire game isn't relentless, hardcore battles like that.
Definitely interested in Dark Devotion. Now, off to the eShop to see if I can add it to my wishlist 😆
Like the look, will keep my eye on that
Will keep a eye on that!
Has some similarities with the game Blasphemous. If you liked Dark Devotion, maybe you will like it too.
If one of the game's selling points is going to be extreme difficulty, hard pass.
But if by merciless, they mean flavor and storytelling, that could be interesting. I quite like it when authors treat their readers or players like intelligent thinking beings and portray a dark, twisted, world.
Looks pretty good. Like Salt n Santuary but better
I like what I see. I hope they don't ruin it by making it rogue-like.
Sold! Looks great.
Hmmm... interesting/interested. If it’s a procedurally generated rouge-like, I’m out.
I wanted Bloodborne 2 not 2D Bloodborne. That altar could have had a Vicar in front of it. The dodging reminds me of Bloodborne too.
Looks fun. Wish it wasn't pixel art. I'm so sick of pixel art. I'm hesitantly interested.
playing dead cells makes me think this kind of gameplay is a bit bleh, i liked it but making the roll the only way to avoid damage makes dealing with different enemies a bit uniform
This looks pretty good; however, so did Death's Gambit and that was a big letdown.
