If you've been following the recent UK gaming charts, you'll very likely be aware of Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy's seemingly unstoppable dominance over recent times - the game managed to stay at number one for an incredible eight weeks. Its impressive reign is finally over, however, as new entries have managed to take the crown this time around.
Both F1 2018 and Shenmue I and II have stormed straight the top of the charts this week, pushing Crash and several other games down a few positions. It's a pretty quiet week for Nintendo exclusives, with the likes of Super Mario Odyssey and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild losing their top ten positions from last week. The ever-strong Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is still hanging in there, however.
Here's the top ten all formats chart (physical sales only):
1. (New) F1 2018
2. (New) Shenmue I & II
3. (1) Crash Bandicoot: N. Sane Trilogy
4. (2) Grand Theft Auto V
5. (4) Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
6. (6) God of War
7. (5) LEGO The Incredibles
8. (7) Call of Duty: WWII
9. (15) The Crew 2
10. (29) FIFA 18
Did you buy any of these chart-topping games this week? Are you surprised to see that Crash Bandicoot has finally been knocked off from that top spot? Let us know your thoughts below.

I'm just happy to see Shenmue in the charts.
Where is the Switch version?
Just kidding, we don't need that. We got Crash Bandicoot.
Ye...where is the Switch version?
How the heck does GTA v still sells that much xd
The only good Crash game is Crash Team Racing. The main series was nothing special. I’m not Mario fan, but 3D Mario series are waaaaay better than this series.
God of War is a phenomenal game in an industry littered with microtransacrions and recycled, boring gameplay.
It deserves the sales its getting.
Crashing out!
I see that every UK home finally has at least one copy of Crash Bandicoot. I was beginning to wonder if they just stopped counting UK sales and arbitrarily gave the slot to crash every week.
So pleased for Shenmue, if there was ever a game that needed to be on Switch, that was it.
What is shemue about? Is it a fighting/story game? Is it like uncharted?
@SimplyCinnamon53 The main character's father is murdered in the opening scene. It's up to him to track down the culprit.
You wander the streets of his hometown, questioning everyone you meet, and gradually find your way to the gang, via some motorbikes and sailors.
It's kinda like if you took GTAs engine, and used it to create a Point and Click style of adventure.
Not quite as free roaming as GTA, but also not as stringent as a Point and Click. Like a middle ground.
Lots of fighting in the game, plenty of storyline, and some QTEs, too. QTEs were pretty much born from this game, and it's one of very few games to have done QTEs properly.
I’m sure the longevity of Crash’s sales must point towards a true sequel. Activision love money, right?
@Jayenkai ok thanks! Sounds cool
@Hobbesyall "How the heck does GTA v still sells that much xd"
According to Wikipedia it's sold 95 million copies as of May this year (including re-releases) and created around 6 billion dollars. Thats bonkers considering they likely made back their initial investment after the first few million units. I'm not sure if that includes in app purchases or if that would be in addition to.
One has to wonder what the impact GTA V Online will have on the design of the next title.
@Smigit thank you for the insight that’s amazing really! I just never found GTA that alluring
@Hobbesyall Yeah it's not at the top of my list so far as franchises go. That said, I did really enjoy V myself, far more so than most in the series. Never bothered with the online but.
Just thought the sales figures were interesting. You're right, its insane how often it appears on sales lists and on Xbox at least (where I got it) it's usually not particularly discounted either (even the sales are pretty average).
I am gutted that Shenmue is not coming to Switch.
I do still have the Dreamcast discs that load occasionally if I have the DC hooked up, but I have seen the virtually instantaneous load times on the new remaster, that would make playing them again so much more enjoyable.
I don’t want to have to buy a PS4 or XBox just to play this remaster
Wow, great for CodeMaster.
Nice to see Shenmue up there. I'll get it on PC like Okami, just to finally never loose it again.
Have 3 from Kickstarter. Hopefully it turns out ok
I was talking about Crash Bandicoot the other day with a friend, as these days, we're both feeling like the PS1-PS2 generations were somewhat a nice middle ground between the "hard-as-nails" older days (according to some, not me, as I remember having beat the original Contra without using the infamous cheat code everyone else used), and the recent trend of not making games "too" difficult.
It's like game makers from that era figured how to make games accessible, but also progressively difficult in a nice way. Now, it's more like "here's an hour-long tutorial, and we'll be holding your hand all along the ride too, in case it's too hard for you".
I've been having a lot of fun with the Crash trilogy lately. It's hard to come by a game nowadays that still has a "game over" screen. Even if the game isn't really over, you still have a finite number of lives, and when they run out, you have to restart the level with the basic number of lives it gives you.
Like I said, it's a nice "bridge" between generations, in terms of difficulty. Older games had a true "game over" ending (or limited continues), and many new ones have "infinite" lives, just making you restart levels indefinitely until you succeed or get bored.
And the Crash Collection price was right too ($40 - CDN). Which may explain in part why it is selling well.
I never played Crash back in the day, but I've really enjoyed the trilogy - especially the first game. My 11 year old had a go and complained that it was too difficult and he didn't know what he was supposed to do. Kids today!
@DreamerDC Shenmue 3 was on Kickstarter (Annouced at the 2015 E3 Sony press conference) long before the Shenmue HD Remakes were announced. I fact the $6+ million dollar funding that YSNet got Sega to realise there was a market for getting the orginals onto the PS4/XboxOne, Im sure the Switch could easily run the Shenmue 1+2 HD also.
Don't worry Crash will be back on top again after everyone in the UK realize how boring and outdated Shenmue are.
@Hobbesyall It's a good game. You should check it out - used copies are probably cheap nowadays.
Crash is dead - long live Ryo.
Also, Shemue Switch when?
Rockstar should really bring GTA 5 to the Switch. That way it'll be on the top 10 lists for the next 5 years too.
I always find the UK charts a little funny to look at. Their tastes in games couldn't be further from my own.
