Sure, holidays are cool and New Year's Eve lets you stay up late watching awful musical acts on the telly, but some look forward even more toward another event just beyond the first of January.
Awesome Games Done Quick 2016 will be speedrunning games nonstop from 3rd-10th January in Virginia, raising money for the Prevent Cancer Foundation. It's a great way to see dedicated players pull off incredible moves, glitches, and manipulations to finish games in times you might never have thought possible.
Nintendo's games naturally work their way into the lineup for the event, and things are even starting off this year with the debut of a Splatoon single player run. We've picked out some of the more prominent Nintendo runs for each day. Note that only games made by Nintendo are listed below and the days listed are based on Eastern Time, so be sure to check the full schedule to see all of what's running and around what time it will be showing for you.

I haven't been keeping up a whole lot on AGDQ, but I do watch Panga fairly often and was curious when I noticed some of his streams were practices for it. It will be interesting to see them go through some of the courses made in Mario Maker. From the ones I've seen so far, I think a lot will be kaizo-like courses.
Also I hope to catch PoR, will be interesting to see since I've never watched a Fire Emblem speed run.
I hope the Pokémon yellow run will be done by the same guys that did the Pokémon blue one at summer games done quickly. It was so impressive and fun to watch.
Only 1 Pokemon speedrun? Y U DO DIS 2 M3!?
It's not Nintendo, but I really suggest people watch the Cloudbuilt speed run on Jan 5th. That game looks GORGEOUS! I really wish it would come to consoles. Or at least Mac so I could play it.
I'd love to see the Metroid prime and Super Punch out ones.
Now, cue the people who complain about people that speedrun games using glitches :v
Neat, might catch Fire Emblem.
Guess if I can't play it, I'll just watch a speedrun of Zero Mission
In all seriousness Iove the AGDQ and SGDQ events. Looking forward to watching as much as I can in between work and mh4u grinding.

Kill the animals. Every time.
@FierceRagnar YOU'RE A KID YOU'RE A SQUID...
ooh, forgot agdq was coming up. thanks for the reminder!
@FierceRagnar There is a distinct difference between a game that people make a lot of meme references too (Splatoon) and a game that is in and of itself a meme or trying to be meme-y (Meme Run).
