Axelay is an awesome game! But in my opinion it's one of the very best Shmup's for the SNES. Does anyone agree? If so why do you feel that it deserves the title?
I'm sure the hardcore retro shoot 'em up fans would disagree. I looked up Super Play magazine's Top 100 SNES games and Axelay was the highest vertical/horizontal scrolling shooter in the list.
Edgey, Gumshoe, Godot, Sissel, Larry, then Mia, Franziska, Maggie, Kay and Lynne.

Not like it had a ton of competition. I look forward to giving it a go, though. I never got far in my previous attempts, but I saw some videos of later levels and it looks really fun.
It's the best one currently available on the Wii U VC, for sure.

I disagree. It's a very good game, but I think Donkey Kong is the best SNES shooter of all time.
