26th September according to the email they sent me.

Anyone still using their Wii U to stream videos?

@Gamecuber Is that ending support only, or does the app become inoperative?.

Never used the app on Wii U, but have started using Prime Video a bit recently.

You guys had me at blood and semen.

What better way to celebrate than firing something out of the pipe?

Nothing is true. Everything is permitted.

The wording on the email is this:

‘Amazon will no longer be supporting the Prime Video app on your Nintendo Wii U console as of September 26, 2019. We are continually upgrading our service and this occasionally means we can no longer support certain device models.’

I didn’t even know it had an amazon prime app. Probably never released here I guess.

Either way, there’s many more ways to warch amazon prime on the tv.

Bloop.

@Morpheel it’s more the fact that this is the first sign of online support disappearing for Wii U. I’m going to have to make sure I update all my games (the majority of which I haven’t played yet).

@Morpheel I know, hence the tongue in cheek title for my post 😁

It’s more the fact that in the old days, dropping support for a system was simply having no new titles released for it. This left the core experience for the player unchanged however. Case in point, I can still play and get the same level of enjoyment, with access to all the same features, from my Mega Drive in 2019 as I could way back in 1993.

With modern systems, on the other hand, as support dwindles certain features disappear completely. Losing Amazon Prime is not such a major issue, but it is the first step in reducing the overall experience of the system and I find that quite sad (though inevitable).

Compare this to what has happened with the Wii. The internet channel is the only thing left.

My Wii u I could care less about. But the same thing is happening to my roku, which is what my family uses to watch it. Amazon did offer me 25 dollars off a fire stick or cube though. And i do hate my roku, so i might take them up on that offer

Well excuuuse me princess
