Topic: Backing Up A Wii U?

Is there a guide that I can follow in order to back everything up, including download-only games and save data? I know the Wii U has SD card support. Is that what I need to do?

Thanks in advance!

To back up Wii U digital purchases, as well as saved games and updates, you'll need either an external hard drive, with power supply (can't speak for SSDs, as I don't have one attached to my Wii U, maybe others can chime in), or a USB thumb drive (not recommended for playing games off of, but it's ok for simply storing data on it and keeping it in a safe spot until you need to copy it back to the Wii U).

To back up data...
1. Plug in your hard drive or USB thumb drive and format it.
2. Go to System Settings (wrench icon).
3. Choose the second option after Internet, data management (three squares in an icon).
4. Choose Copy/Move/Delete Data.
5. Choose System Memory or USB Storage Device.
6. Press X to Copy and select what you want to copy over to the USB Storage Device (your hard drive or USB thumb drive).
7. Press Y to copy data over to the USB Storage Device.

Hope this helps. Keep in mind games will only work on the system they're originally downloaded to AFAIK. Remember, make sure your system is off before removing the hard drive or USB thumb drive.
