The only thing I can think of with Sonic 3 is the theories of whether Michael Jackson was involved with the soundtrack. (which hasn't been officially confirmed/denied, so it can't be considered a license issue and is easily a different topic)
The "Last Ninja 3" icon is still on my SD Card menu, but when I click on it and press "START" it won't boot anymore. It's like when you copy a game from a different Wii to your Wii/SD Card.
I got my 500 Wii Points back and they erased Last Ninja 3 from my account. The icon is the last reminder of once having this game.
There was no automatic message or something that informed me about the issue. I have only seen the 500 Points plus when I started up the Wii Shop channel, left to wonder what's happened.
Still hope Last Ninja 3 gets fixed (the crashing AND the bad button config) and re-released because I love the series so much and want the whole trilogy working on Wii! Now Last Ninja 1 & 2 feel so alone next to a useless un-bootable Last Ninja 3 icon.
Just received this email in my junkmail this morning from: t.van.sambe...
Dear Customer,
Despite the best effort of the Commodore Gaming development team, the crash in Last Ninja 3 occurring at the end of Level 1 could not be resolved due to a technical problem. Unfortunately this game uses Commodore 64 hardware specific features that can not be emulated by our software.
We are truly sorry for any inconvenience caused by the defective software. We will reimburse the 500 Wii Points you spent to purchase the game.
In order to do so, we would kindly like to ask you to provide the following information:
1. Your Wii serial number
You can find it on the bottom of the console, marked as “Serial No:”. The serial number begins with the letter L and ends with a number in a square.
2. Your contact email address
Please send this information by email to wii@commod....
You will receive reimbursement in form of a Wii Points code within ten business days. Please note that, based on your Wii serial number, your purchase of the game will be verified before reimbursement.

To everyone who didn't receive a refund it seems that the method has changed.

The Michael Jackson songs that sound like Sonic 3 music actually came out years after Sonic 3, so can't see how Sega could have ripped them off.
Funny that the free version given away with retro gamer found a way around it...
A poster on VC-forums was behind that and confirms it is quite possible with a bit of work...commodore gaming evidently just can't be bothered with the work...much like many VC publishers.
I think it was actually the copy protection when you swap discs which caused the problem. I guess they never bothered to fully play test their emulator... Mayhem in Monsterland is also a little messed up, but still playable (though this game did use many hardware tricks) - title screen is glitched on VC for one thing. IK and IK+ are fine though, just as I remember and still great!

I think Betagam7 can confirm that IK+ isn't 100% accurately emulated, as the T button doesn't work in the VC version. Also Betagam confirms Cybernoid on VC crashes randomly (something I never encountered in the original C64 game).
I can confirm that The Last Ninja 1's title theme is missing in the VC version. What the..?? Yeah, they just cut such a cult piece of music!! I also confirm that we got the CDTV version of Paradroid (with a character tile glitch) and not the original C64 version.
I recently read that someone mentions Nebulus/Tower Toppler has a bug in stage 5 and isn't beatable?! This game is hard later on, but I dunno if this is just a rumour or real.
I can only confirm Boulder Dash and Last Ninja 2 are working 100% and are perfectly emulated and beatable on VC. Uridium seems to be quite correct too, only with... maybe too dark colors it seems.... but I can't confirm if all stages work since I couldn't beat stage 13 yet. Damn hard game! Love it!
Hey SKTTR, Thinking about it, I was slightly taking rubbish as I only played IK+ on the Amstrad CPC464. Sorry, what did T do? Still have my original release of IK though... Only C64 other games I've downloaded are Mayhem (bit messed up), Last Ninjas 1 ans 2 (which are as you say) and last Ninja 3 (argh!). Which brings me to my point, anyone else still hear nowt from Commodore gaming? - I've emailed them at that Wii Address and still nothing!

When you pressed "T" on the Keyboard while playing the game, the fighters trousers dropped. It was just a short animation. The fighters pulled up their trousers quickly. It's missing from the VC version. Pressing "T" on the Virtual Keyboard does nothing.
Just an update for anyone waiting. After contacting them again I got another reply stating that they were awaiting to access the points from Nintendo, hence a further delay... we shall see.
I have not waited for Commodore Gaming. Fortunately I got my points directly from Nintendo a month ago. I suppose that only happened because I was actively complaining/writing emails!
I also played LAST NINJA 3 over and over again. I have beaten the first stage 4 times (and it always crashed when loading stage 2).
