Hi, I'm hoping this is the right forum for this, but I'm having issues with my original NES, this is the same one I've been using since the 80s. I've searched to find this same issue but can't seem to find anything. I'm trying to figure out what to do. I currently have my NES and a few other consoles setup through an AV switcher to an Insignia 4k TV. All other consoles function fine, but the NES. I'll start up a game and it will play fine and then the screen will go blank after a while, but there will still be audio; if I pause the game the screen comes back from being blank, and goes blank again when I unpause. The exact thing happens regardless of the game. I can only assume it's because of the 4k tv, but before I shell out money on an upscaler, I was hoping to see if anyone has any suggestions or recommendations. Thanks!
@GirthReynolds Forgive me if this is a tangent, but it reminds me of when DRM copyright encoding scrambles video. When I had a dvd video recorder in 2012, some shows/channels had audio, but the picture would come & go, from picture then black screen, picture then black screen. Granted, you lose picture, and it stays on black screen, but maybe the NES is triggering similar function, even though I wouldn't expect an NES from 35 years ago to be able to do that. If you think that sounds crazy, I would agree, but it reminds me of copyright DRM video scrambling.
Now, in that case you had to buy an upscaler with "image stabilizer" to strip DRM video scrambling, not all upscalers would solve it. Forgive that term, in the US here, "Image Stabilizer" was the marketing term used to get around US copyright laws, because you cant sell products that advertise stripping DRM.
I'm not sure that's your problem, but I thought I'd share, in case some input was better than no input regarding your situation.
